It also installs Bing!:p

I just selected to hide it so it won't bug me in the future.

I would tend to agree somewhat, yeah if you're not using Live, don't update, but for this....

Call me paranoid, but since you can't remove IE from Windows, I would keep those files updated, even if you "don't" use IE.

As as side note.... If you don't have the program installed (Windows Live Essentials) updates shouldn't appear for it. And the program should be listed as optional.

Back in the day I used to allow automatic updates, but that was a long, long time ago.
It's set to check, but let me decide if, and when to download and install. It is the first thing I do on any machine in my possession.

Human nature being what it is, I didn't elaborate....In a similar vein I offer this scenario:

You have never updated "Live", but one day you see it sitting there in "All Programs", and decide to explore, later that day you find that your machine is seriously infected, and can not think of how this could happen.

Wouldn't it be more efficient as the administrator of your machine to un-install it rather than have fate lurking in the shadows?

KB2434419 has been hidden since I saw it earlier this week, and if it doesn't disrupt the OS all "Live" components will be un-installed.
I just wanted to see what other member's thought on the subject.

I usually create a system image backup before installing any updates, and never keep anything but the OS and programs on the system partition. It also pays to wait a few days after updates become available, then search for problems with each one before installing any of them.
 
IE is off my system :)

I don't like IE either, although that seems more and more to be nothing but a personal bias than anything else. On the laptop I use whenever I'm not in my shop, there's no perceptible difference between page loading times, even though the benchmarks say otherwise, and last I checked, you still have to have IE in order to download some things from Microsoft.
 
It's totally a preference thing, and I have had no issues without IE :D

I use windows live messenger, and this update allows you to choose to update installed apps or install the complete update. The new messenger is quite nice to use (I can now chat with my facebook contacts using msn and more), I am very pleased, and I can confirm, no bing here!
