WMP300N Connection Issues

I am using Windows 7 x64 build 7100. It automatically installed drivers for my Linksys WMP300N during windows installation. I was able to join my local wireless network just fine. However, downloading large files (whether it be, HTTP, FTP, or BitTorrent) causes my connection to stop working. The system tray icon still shows my signal strength, and I can still see all wireless networks in range. However, I cannot use the internet, nor contact my wireless router. Any attempts to refresh my connection or establish a new connection fails. It seems the only solution is to restart.

I did notice that the driver installed with windows had a driver date of 2006. I grabbed the latest drivers from Linksys, and installed the latest version for Vista x64 (which was version 4.150.22.0). I did have to do some weird stuff to get it to install, because Windows kept telling me the driver update failed because "The name is already in use as either a service name or a service display name". So I had to uninstall the device, and do some registry cleanup to get it to allow me to change the driver.

But the problem still persists. Any ideas?

I had the same issue in vista with this card. I found the only solution was to reinstall vista and use only the driver installed by default. I have two linksys routers running ddwrt, and 1 netgear router also running ddwrt. I've never had an issue with linksys until now. This was a very expensive card and they just don't care enough to provide support aparently.

I don't know why it does this, it's an issue with the vista/7 network stack and this crummy driver. I am currently going through the same thing with 7077 and the wmp300n, it will connect to either router just fine and then after loading wow or utorrent it just goes and hangs up on me.

I bought this card for the speed and range it promised and the trust I had in linksys. Any non linksys suggestions for future purchases?

I couldnt figure out anything, so I switched back to Vista x64. I wonder if this problem exists under Win7 x86?

I'm quite dissapointed, and a little uncertain what to do. A good friend of mine put my computer together. I'm currently located in a South American country, and he was all like "I got you an awesome card. It was hard, but I got it for a good price.." etc, and now I'm having problems with the card. At this point, I've wasted a day trying to get it to work correctly, but no luck.

Basically, my issue is that the network card works for a while - usually several hours - and then it stops working. I then have to restart the computer. After restarting the computer, it usually starts working again, but occasionally it stops completely and I have to un-install the device and then search for plug and play again to re-install, at which point it will work.

there are several things that can cause your problem. First we could use more info about your computer (it goes in system specs in userCP) and some info about your network setup.

Of the several things that can cuase this there are IP-6 support in networking should be off, wake on lan also, and you might want to check the power plan settings.
