Hello
I have a notebook with windows 7 and if I try to record a video (with hypercam) then it will only record the sound from mey microphone.
(so if i talk, you can hear it. But if I play music, the music is coming out the speakers, and then goes back into the microphone).
Is there any proper way to record only the sound from my computer.
(I dont need the microphone, i only want to record the sound that my computer is making)

If I click that speaker on the taskbar, right click -> sound -> recording -> show disconnected devices.
Then the stereo-mix is not on that list :(

You didn't provide any system specs but it appears you want to record streaming audio from the Internet or "what you hear" on the PC speakers. In order to do that you need to have the "System Mixer" function and that function selected as the default playback device. Unfortunately some new PC's do not have that function and in those that do not - SOMETIMES updated sound drivers will take care of the problem and in others it's just not available.

To see if your system has the System Mixer, go to Control Panel/Hardware and Sound and finally Sound. In the Sound panel click on the Recording tab. If the System Mixer is shown, select it as the default playback device. If it is not shown, RIGHT click in an empty area in that panel and then select both Show Disabled Devices and Show Disconnected Devices. If you are lucky the System Mixer will be one of those devices and you can then select it as the Default Playback Device.

The stereo mixer does not appear in the list.

And if i go to the device manager -> sound, video and gamecontrollers, i get:

- ATI High Definition Audio Device
- IDT High Definition Audio CODEC

right click => properties => update drivers => search for updates on the internet.
Then both say:
"windows has determined the driver software for your device is up to date."

Look around for an alternate IDT audio driver, however there is no guarantee you can find a driver that will install and/or work and there is no guarantee that you will find another driver that has the System Mixer function enabled. Although Windows says the driver is up to date, check the PC vendor's site for any updated sound driver.

Could you perhaps help me one more time :) ?
I uninstalled the old drivers and tried to reinstall the new drivers i downloaded.
But now things are more messed up than before.

(sound is still playing) but for example the mute button on my laptop
( a little button that turns red if the sound is muted and green otherwise) that little button is always red now, even if the sound is working.

So now i want to get my old drivers back , but how ...?

The "Rec.Playback" device is the Stereo Mix. I think you have to right click on it then enable it, and then, set it as the default recording device.

Those drivers should have worked as it looked like everything was there.

The problem is that i uninstalled the drivers and reinstalled other ones with the hope i would get the stereo mix. But that failed, and now i uninstalled all audio drivers.

But if try to search for "IDT High Definition Audio CODEC" i find files called "sp45892.exe"
but if i try to install those i get the error: "the hardware detected is not supported by this idt software package"
