Discuss Fallout: New Vegas

I have a problem early in the game. The quest you get at the start after killing geckos (rofl) at the water supply for Zander root and some w/e flower for the cook quest.
I collected the root then the flower in that order and the game crashed. I have the flower in my PBoy but not the root. Its no longer collectable and so I cant complete the quest.
Anyone know a workaround because if this game is the same as the original then thats no garantuee that the quest will work.
Fact is this game hasnt moved much since the original,similar crashes bugs etc etc. And dx9 lol..the world has moved on and Bethseda lives with the hippies still.

NM going back to a previous save worked...

But what do you have against hippies?

Should have said Bethseda have not moved on with the times tho..same engine..same or similar buggy BS etc etc..I was expecting better but w/e.

It's funny how using an old d3d9.dll makes the game run like an irish champ. From experience, it works like a charm. I've had far fewer crashes, than with the factory setup. (think its nvidia only, not sure)

Been playin for a long while now, and im still sucked in. As a shooter, it's 'Meh' but it's the exploration that grabs my attention. That, and the all mighty Bloody Mess perk........

Game detected my 5850 with no problems..had a little tearing going on but disabling Vsync seems to have rectified that.

And its is a big world to explore

It's quite easy to be working on something and get distra... Oh... something shiny over there! Better check it out

I've pretty much put this game on the back burner for now.

In fact i'm pretty much looking for something else to play. I might get Metro 2033, or just play one of my older games again. Sorry to say but I'm bored with New Vegas

I'm interested in trying this game too and was considering picking it up soon.
Although, ATM Im playing Borderlands and having alot of fun with it.

Metro 2033 is a great game, you should enjoy it, I did. It did a few very new things.

Hrm,

Now I have 1 giant rat and 1 giant mantis in Vault 11 that just go unconscious, and then respawn over and over like a companion would. And the game froze when I gave a wait command to a companion. :sarc:

Like the companion marker in the pip boy though.

Yet another bug!!!

OK, so I'm in Freeside doing a side quest for the King - "G.I. Blues" which has a quest investigating why the NCR soldiers are in freeside. Anyway there's an optional quest where you "Talk to Major Elizabeth Kieran and mention Julie Farkas..." Well you have to enter a building to meet her. Done that got the task done!

Now the bug..... I can't leave the place because the same door I came in is now locked and requires a key! Huh.... :huh:

I've checked my strategy guide, looked online.... there is no mention of a key being required to unlock a door I came in to leave a building for a task i've already completed!!! And there are no dialogue options to indicate you need permission to leave either!

BTW you need a password to get in.... not get out! That's why I say bug!

Looks like i'll have to start that task over again as restarting the game didn't fix it.

Oh.... this is after being updated with the above mentioned patch! :shock:

I've been defending this game.... but it's approaching STALKER buggy status, and that's saying something!

Anyway restarting the mission fixed the problem.

A couple of things I noticed though.... (spoiler)

When you approach the door there are two guards - one on your left and one on the right.

The first time I gained entry to the building I spoke to the guard on my right and was given two choices - give him a password (which I got) or say I don't know. I gave him the password and was let in but my companion wasn't let in. - This is the one that had the locked door.

When I restarted the task this time I spoke to the guard on my left and was given 3 choices - give password, I don't know, or a speech option (which I had) - I choose the speech option and passed and was let in... this time my companion was allowed in as well - This was went without issue... I left the building without being locked in.

Incidentally, the dialogue with the major will indicate that your companion is left outside, so....

Definitely a bug!

Whoa there buddy, the uninstall button? that seems a little severe no? i thought you were shrugging it off. oh well. if its any consolation i uninstalled days ago.
