random (mostly in-game) BSODs

ok folks, i have tried just about everything i can think of to fix this one.

the machine started acting up a couple of days aog, and my efforts to get it up and running again before a lan event this weekend havent worked.

i have tried updating video card drivers, motherboard drivers and BIOS.

system restore wont go back far enough to be of any assistance.

and i REALLY dont want to have to do a full reinstall of windows this far out from the big day.

any help would be greatly appreciated.

Please remove any CD virtualization programs such as Daemon Tools and Alcohol 120%. They use a driver, found in your dmp, sptd.sys, that is notorious for causing BSODs. Use this SPTD uninstaller when you're done: DuplexSecure - Downloads

How To Find Drivers:

- search Google for the name of the driver
- compare the Google results with what's installed on your system to figure out which device/program it belongs to
- visit the web site of the manufacturer of the hardware/program to get the latest drivers (DON'T use Windows Update or the Update driver function of Device Manager).
- if there are difficulties in locating them, post back with questions and someone will try and help you locate the appropriate program.

Remove and replace with microsoft security essentials and the win 7 firewall.

thanks for the help guys

tried all of that, and still got BSOD's.

ran memtest86, and got a bucketload of errors, so i am 98% sure one (or both) my ram sticks need to be RMA'd.

seems like it only happens when my memory usage goes over ~60%.
