I have tried numerous times to get the LifeCam software recommended by Windows 7 (version 2.9) to work. The software installs with drivers, but when I run the program it shows a black cam screen stating that no camera is connected.
As a workaround, I uninstalled the software via Control Panel/Programs and Features which left the original Windows 7 Imaging Devices/Microsoft LifeCam drivers intact. Then I opened Windows Live Messenger and under the menu I select Tools/Audio and video setup and followed the setup screens... at least this way you can use the camera for video conferencing with Live Messenger.

works fine here with vx7000. I know from past experience that it is crucial to have the cam unplugged before you install the new drivers. If you don't it screws up and nothing works. but looks like you got a different problem with the drivers not talking to the cam at all...

I had a similar problem with the Microsoft webcam VX3000 and for the first few days of Windows 7 it would not work. So I did a uninstall through the system settings and then asked the system to upgrade the driver after reboot. It found the new software and installed it and the cam has been working just fine since then. Use it in Yahoo and Live Messenger and as stand alone webcam. All functions seem to do what they are supposed to.

Wish you the same good luck with your cam.

Yeah that is a weird… I had a Logitech express it would work when I installed the drivers but when I rebooted I got a blank screen and lots of errors.
Thanks for replying anyway.

I was thinking about buying the webcam, but after seeing so many problems in W7 I'll re-consider it better.
