I recently got a new computer and two new monitors. I had the 3rd monitor working before but now nothing will show up when it is connected. I have two hp 2009m's and a 24 inch Asus. The Asus is hooked up to the Display port with a dp to dvi adapter that i bought off ebay. The left Hp is hooked up to the dvi port and the right one (this is the one not working) is hooked up to the Hdmi with an hdmi to dvi adapter. Now like i said before i had all 3 monitors working before so i don't think it's an issue with the cables, Not sure if it matters but I was using two dell 17 inch ultra sharps and one of the hp 2009m's when it was working. So does anyone know what the problem is? I really don't feel like putting much more money into this so if i could make it work with what i have that would be awesome. Thanks

How do you enable it? All i see is duplicate, extend and replace. I tried to extend it but it disabled my 2nd monitor.

When you hook up a monitor to the HDMI port you loose one of the DVI ports. That is why your third monitor is not showing up in the CCC. The connection set up should be two monitors connected to the two DVI ports and third connected with you display port adapter to the display port.

Are you using the same 5770 from your old computer or did the new computer come with a new 5770?

To enable the use of 3 monitors, you must have one monitor connected via DisplayPort.

In Catalyst, you have to disable two monitors then create a display group. You can choose: 1 x 2, 1 x 3, 2 x 1, or 3 x 1; where the first two options are for a super tall setup and the latter two options are for the super wide setup.

(Unfortunately, I'm not at my personal pc so I cannot provide screenshots at this time)

That would be great if you could post up some screen shots so i know what to do.
So it would make the computer think its just one large display

This might be a stupid question but what makes the adapter and active or passive?

Also Its not really an adapter. Its a cord with a dvi port on one end and dp on the other. The actual adapter that i have quit working all together for some reason.

An active display port adapter is powered while a passive one is not. This is the one I have: Amazon.com: Accell UltraAV B087B-002B DisplayPort/DVI-D Dual-Link Adapter (Black): Electronics

For Eyefinity:
1. Open Catalyst Control Center. Click the box Desktop Management, then click Creating and Arranging Desktops.

picture.php

2. Decide which monitor you will have as your primary monitor and for the remaining two monitors, you will click the triangle in the upper right corner of the diplays, then you will disable them.

picture.php

3. For the primary monitor, in the main space, click the triangle in the upper right corner and select Create Group... (disregard what the picture states, I made a mistake. Select Create Group)

picture.php

4. Select the group you want. (3 x 1 is a group three wide by one high)

picture.php

Follow the prompts to complete the creation of the grouping.

Thanks man! One small problem though. Only two displays show up when i try to create the group.

It is my understanding that you can use a 'passive' adaptor for 'extended mode' , However, when trying to create a group - that's when you'll encounter the problems you are with one of the monitors 'disappearing' from the group selection.

The different resolution / connections of the monitors shouldn't make a difference. The group will default to the lowest monitors resolution.

For example:

All three of my 24" monitors are 1920x1200 - however I can swap a monitor with a 1920x1080 TV and still create a group using a native DVI connection, a DVI>HDMI (TV) and the display port.

My monitors are native DisplayPort capable which is how I can use a 'passive' adaptor. Unfortunately this means I can't really test any other configs for you.

I'd still be inclined to blame the DP cord from ebay

I would buy an active adapter but there kind of expensive, and the one i have now took no configuration before. All i had to do was plug it up and it worked. So im gonna try every possible thing before i buy one.

Alright guys the new display port to dvi cable apparently had some problems. The monitor i was using it with looked like it had some dead pixles but it was the cable, i guess it had a bad connection or something. So im going to send this one back and buy one of the active adapters.

Anyone know any place to get one for around 50 dollars or so?
