I have just finished a new build Intel i3 on a Gigabyte GA-H55M-UD2H mobo running Windows 7. Both the PCI slots are vacant and I have no need of them. However, I have a device identified as "Prolific USB to COMM port (COM 6)" which infuriatingly loads no driver. I tried downloading the Prolific PL-2303 driver which was the advice thrown up by the O.S. but installation is not successful giving "Error code 10". If that is chased up through the Prolific support pages all you learn is that Prolific are fingering a dodgy cable. I have no such cable installed! Removing the device in Dev Mgr simply results in a repeat of the failure to load driver merry-go-round.
Any ideas please ?
