I cant update my bios for my mobo!

I have an HP Pavilion a1719n desktop.
it was a vista 32 bit home premium now its an windows 7 32 bit home premium!

My CPU socket pins were damaged and so i bought another one it is the same motherboard i install it but my PC notice that i changed it.My original Bois that the mobo came with is 5.03 just like the new one. I update it the old mobo to the lasted bios from hp which is 5.23.

But since i changed it it revert it the 5.03 which is the new motherboard bios. So the i downloaded the bios from hp to update it but it says it does not meet the system requirements and i cant update it but some how it update it to 5.09 from some windows update package.

So is there anyway i can update it to 5.23 like i had it before?
I read on the internet that if you change you OEM mobo and replace it with another even if its exactly the same one it will not be recognize as an hp motherboard since my pc is an hp pavilion.

Anybody has this problem?

PS: i did not buy the new mobo from hp i got it off ebay. And the Bios from HP is for windows vista not seven. Also i already try installing vista again and updfate the bios from vista OS but no luck its not recognise as an OEM mobo.

Ok calm down. There are a few ways of doing this. I had the same problem with another HP I worked on.

Downloaded the bios folder that I have uploaded )This is the one from HP I just extraced it). The application named "Flash" in the folder I uploaded with this post right click and go to "properties" then go to "Compatablity" and change to windows vista. Then click ok and just run the application named "Flash." Post if this works or not.

Try it and a windows named Flash came up saying "OnBoard BIOS not award BIOS !"
What does that mean?

An HP BIOS is unlikely to work on a non-HP computer, even if it's the same brand and model number, etc.

Get the BIOS from Asus. Pay attention to different revisions of the motherboard, if that applies.

As for Operating Systems, the BIOS doesn't care (or know) what you're running on the computer. The only hitch might be if you were trying to flash the BIOS from within Windows. Then the program you use to perform the flash might care, but not the actual BIOS file it is flashing. I would recommend flashing the BIOS from a bootable thumbdrive, if that's allowed by the flashing process.

PS: Your link won't work. List the exact model and revision number of your board.

PPS: You might have got a dodgy board off eBay. I'm not saying you did, so don't go complaining yet. But it's happened. First things first, let's try the other stuff.

The program "Flash" is looking for the bio and can't find one. This is common aand there is nothing wrong with you Mother Board. Download winflash that I have uploaded.

If you do not have a floppy drive installed in your system, or if you are not familiar with the DOS flash process,
please update the new BIOS by using the "Winflash" Utility.
In the program please check the boxes on "Update all" in update options and "Clear CMOS" in CMOS options.

I posted this here because it's easy to miss an edit:

I had to replace a bad board myself not long ago and Win 7 saw it as a new MB - even though it was the same brand, model, and revision. If that's your only problem I would just accept it. How does the system run on the replacement board?

The system runs perfect! like new no problems so far except for the current one

I jst did it again but this time i right click on the flash file and run as administartor and it worked and it opened up winflash so now wat do i do?

ok now locate the .rom file from the bios folder I posted before.

In winflash open the .rom file in the folder I had post before called BIOS. Then run winflash to flash the bios.

Why risk a BIOS flash on a system that works great?

Fixes BIOS Setup Menu Display for SATA Port 2 and 3 .
Updates CPU microcode.
Updates AWDFLASH to v115M for MXIC SPI Flash Support.

Is tha good or does it nmake no difference?

The first one might come in handy when configuring those SATA ports. The second allows newer CPUs to work with the board. The third one has got me stumped; it seems to be telling you that the BIOS update updates the BIOS.

Google "Bad BIOS flash" and you'll see why I don't recommend flashing a board unless the new BIOS does something you need.
