My system is having the exact same problem, though it is a DELL XPS. Been running Windows 7 for over a year, but in the last week it started freezing up completely randomly, no pattern of program usage or heat levels that I can make out. HD scan, Memory scan, system integrity scan, all show everything as being fine. Just reinstalled the OS a day or so ago and still having trouble. Just completely random freezing, forcing me to hardpower the system off. Any help would be appreciated.

It really sucks................
I am having a very similar problem. It has happened 2 or 3 times over the past few months. I built and installed Windows 7 Pro about a year ago.

I am running Win 7, 32 bit with two hard drives. One hard drive has Win 7 and the other has Win XP. On startup, I have the option to boot to either OS.

This morning I booted up normal and went into Outlook to read emails. I clicked on a link to open IE and as soon as IE opened to the link, my pc locked up. The only way to to get it to attempt to restart was to turn the power off on the back of the case.

When I tried to restart it locked up again about half way through the boot, at the "Windows is loading" screen. Again I had to use the power Off button to shut down.

I went through this 2 or 3 times, even trying to boot into Win XP. Finally I disconnected the second hard drive and everything booted up normal. I did a normal shut down and reconnected the second hard drive and booted again. Bootup was normal and everything at the moment seems to be working normal.

All drivers appear to be ok with no yellow anywhere in the device manager.

This does not happen often, but it is irritating as hell  when it does happen. If anyone has any ideas I would appreciate the help.

Thanks

even i reduced my ram frequency from bios but still same probs:mad:

Random freezes with windows 7 - 64 bit

Games constantly crash under Windows 7 64bit

First of all, get a real power supply
Second, make sure the processor heatsink is installed correctly
Third, get latest bios for the motherboard, and apply it.

Is your windows 7 legit or you're using an activation patch? Many users on retail intel boards have lots of issues when using a "loader"

One reason for it happening

I had this issue and traced it to a conflict between Jave runtime and VIPRE antivirus.
Tried various versions of Java, same issue. Changed to new MS AV environment and problem went away.

I have also tried Symantec antivirus and that works ok with Jave.

VIPRE support is useless, they kept telling me to apply firewall rules even though I had disabled the firewall. This is anoying as I own a three year site licence which is now unusable :-(
