Solved Do laser printers have the same ink issues as inkjet printers?

My laser printer is shared out on my server and is in the back room of my basement. I'm not any more worried about the health risks of using my laser printer, than using my microwave, cell phone, etc.

Thank you all for your wonderfull advice, today I have purchased a Samsung ML-1665 Mono Laser Printer for only £50. This means that this printer will pay for itself with 1 year easily, just hope that the printing isn't bad as it will be a shame.

Good choice--Samsung and Brother are at the top of the heap for lower priced units. It may have come with only a partial load of toner, but even that will last a long time.

Investigate its "toner-saver" settings, if any, to get even more pages before you have to reload.

I think lasers use considerable electricity when running, although I guess "standby" would apply. I keep mine completely "off" until I actually want to print.

Get yourself a plastic cover to place over it to keep the dust out of the mechanism--like you used to see over typewriters--if you remember typewriters.

I do generally turn off ALL my electronic devices such as TV's, PC's microwaves and basically anything else that use power. It isn't too difficult to turn off at the wall and then turn on again when needed. When I get up in the morning I turn the power on, on my TV and satalite reciever box and while it is powering up I make a cup of coffee to help me power up. I am as green as I can possibly be, and I am always looking for more ways to be more green.

That's a fair statement. My Lexmark's ok but probably go for a Brother next. Lexmark driver support is a bit poor.
It depends how much and what you print but I don't bother with the "toner saver" mode. I have a generic toner cartridge at 1/2 price of the Lexmark brand and it's fine.
