BSOD on Freshly Built PC. Only Crashes When I am not There?!?!

Hello Everyone,

I recently bought a ton of new computer parts to build myself a new rig with my Christmas bonus. Well everything came in and put everything together and everything seemed to boot up fine.

My only issue is that my computer randomly restarts and when it loads back into windows it says that it unexpectedly shut down. I have never actually seen the BSOD, only the error report that mentions it. I clicked the option to not automatically restart so I can see what's going on, but when it crashes, instead of a BSOD I come to a blank frozen black screen. It has done this about 5-6 times on me already, and it ALWAYS does it when I am not around. I can use the computer for several hours, i.e. playing games or browsing the internet and it won't crash, only when I leave it alone idling. Every instance that it restarted on me I had my "EA Download Manager" up and running, I just want the computer on enough so I can download Bad Company 2 which takes me roughly 8 hours with my internet speed.

I have:
1. Updated ALL my drivers
2. Undone my CPU overclock
3. Ran memtest which passed 100% fine on the extensive test

My Computer specs include:
AMD Phenom II x4 965 ~3.8 GHz 35 degree stable
ATI HD 6780 no Overclocking
8 Gigs of GSkill DDR 1600
64Gb Corsair SSD that windows runs off of
1Tb WD Drive for all my programs and media
MSI 870A-G54 Motherboard

I have attached all the system information and DPM's, I was not able to get the PERFMON report, it kept on saying that it was gathering information for 60 seconds for about ten minutes and it never gave me a report.

Thanks anyone for their help.

Dumps blame atikmdag.sys, your ATI display drivers

- Boot into safe mode with networking
- Uninstall the ATI drivers including Catalyst Control Center
- Use driver sweeper to remove leftover ATI display driver files Guru3D - Driver Sweeper (This step is important)
- Reboot into safe mode with networking
- Install the latest drivers ATI Radeon
- Reboot into normal mode

Check your GPU temps and your RAM if the above does not work

I have uninstalled the Display driver and reinstalled the latest one twice already. Do you think there might be a problem with the latest driver or maybe the hardware itself?

But even if you install the driver, leftovers from the previous one may still be present
Uninstall the driver then use driver sweeper to remove leftovers, see the above steps

Would agree with yowanvista since he just helped me out with a same issue. I had uninstalled using the ATI installer but the problem persisted. I followed the instructions using Driver Sweeper and the PC is cured. If it still doesn't resolve the issue try installing the 10-11 drivers and do not allow auto updates to update your driver.

Ok, Thanks guys. I ended up completely cleaning out the drivers. Rebooted to make sure that the Generic VGA driver would load, then reinstalled.

I'll keep you guys posted if the problem persists.

Thank you.
