I was a 'demob leave' baby. My father came home on demob leave after the war and Bingo! here I am.

I was born 9 months after the first anniversary of freedom from WWII. 5th of May 1946 must have been one hell of a party.

I have never met my father.

And yes, i am a ba****d, and proud of it.:devil2:

Well--so far I have heard from only young people. I was born on March 6, 1931--about 1:30 in the afternoon to be exact. Those were the days when most women didn't go to the hospital to have their babies. They had them at home. So when I was just about ready to decide to come into the world, my dad sent for the doctor. Yes--doctors did make house calls in those days. Well--I was ready to be born before the doctor got to the house. Fortunately, most of the older ladies in our neighborhood knew how to deliver a baby. So, when the doctor finally got their, I was already a member of the world. My dad told the doctor that he wasn't needed since I was already born, I was well and strong and kicking and. As my dad has told me, the doctor later sent him a bill for $25.00. He never paid the doctor because (as my dad said) he didn't need the doctor. I have always felt bad that I was never paid for. I would like to think that I am worth at least $25.00. If the doctor were still alive, I'd sent him the $25.00--plus a little extra. I still wish my dad would have paid him, but in 1931 when I was born, we were in the midst of the Great Depression and my dad had no job and no money. That's a true story. I guess I can say that I was "born free". OK all you young guys, top that story.

You're right, Doc. I am an Ohio State Buckeye! What ticks me off is when everyone tells me that a buckeye is just a "worthless nut"

I grew up near Dayton, & we had a large Buckeye tree on the side of our house.
I collected many of those Nuts

Less than 100 yards from where I live, there is a huge buckeye tree. When our grandchildren were young, we used to go there and pick buckeys. I would use the nuts to make necklaces for them. They thought that was "real cool".
Actually, there are a lot on nuts in Ohio. OK you guys who are not from Ohio, don't take that statement wrong!
