Windows 7 x64 crashes on boot when any USB device connected

Booting my Win7 x64 machine with any USB device connected (printer (if switched on), card reader, web cam) causes windows to crash and then try to repair itself unsuccessfully. Once I disconnect the device then Windows will start fine.

I have attached a zipped BSOD dump.

Any help would be most appreciated thanks!

Is this a brand new build?
If it is and the USB ports plugged into the motherboard the plug may be reversed or backwards. Another issue is that someplace your USB port has a short in it. Highly unlikely but possible.

I found a link to Future Technology Devices International and the v2.08.08 contains a newer ftdibus driver. But please assure yourself it is the correct one. (restore point before install?)

AVG is known to be a cause of BSOD's on some Win 7 systems so you need to uninstall it. Download the correct AVG Remover for your system, 64 or 32bit. Download Microsoft Security Essentials as its replacement. Uninstall AVG, Re-boot to Safe Mode and run the AVG Remover tool to clean up. Re-boot to normal mode and install MSE. Make sure Windows firewall is enabled.

Outdated drivers can and do cause blue screens:

Not brand new

Hi IggyAZ, I'm trying to think back to when this actually started to cause me problems. It wasn't from new but a few months in. I took the machine back to the manufacturers who couldn't reproduce the fault. When I brought it back home then it was OK until I started connecting up the USB devices again.

Hi fimble, thanks for all your suggestions - I'll try AVG first because it could have started happening about the time I switched over from MacAfee. I'll also try to sort out my drivers, starting with ftdibus.sys. I'll let you know if I make any progress.
