Hello.
I would like to replace Windows Vista on my Acer Aspire 5920g with Windows 7 Professional... Is that possible?
When i look at the drivers' section on the Acer website it has only for Vista. Will they be compatible with the Windows 7?

Hi NoN,

Downloaded the Intel driver you suggested and its not solved it. All my Windows Updates are erm up to date so not sure what else to try. I could try all the drivers from the Acer site at theog suggests but none of them seem to relate to the PCI Memory (turbo memory I assume). Any futher suggestions or is a call to Acer support the next step (oh-no!)?

Thanks

Sorry for the late answer...yes theog is part right, you should update now your Windows 7 x32bits drivers from Acer (those needed).
I can give you also the link for the INTEL TURBO MEMORY DRIVER (Robson Technology Driver) Turbo Memory Version 1.10.1.1012 (8.9.2.1023) for Windows 7 x32 & x64bits:

Hi,

Tried the Intel Turbo Mem you suggested but still no luck. I've also downloaded the most of the drivers from the Acer website but the PCI Memory Controller still fails to install on boot up.

Is there any way of checking on my laptop which driver I need?

Looks like something to enable in Bios setting...have you been there?

On boot press F2 key to enter the setup.

Drivers are alright so far, they're the one, keep them.

I've had a look in Computer Management and under PCI Memory Controller I've selected 'Update Drivers'. The following is shown: 'Windows found driver software for your devise but encountered an error while attempting to install it: Intel(R) Flash Cache Logic Chip
The specified program requires a new version of Windows.'

I have updated everything on Windows so not what this means?

I think you should point in the bios the SATA Configuration to enable the AHCI

HERE:

And here a little bit of a discuss about it(valid for Windows 7 aswell):

Tried the ACHI tutorial but couldn't see anything on set up (F2 on boot up) that needed changing and it still fails to install PCI Memory Controller

Everything else seems to work so its just annoying that it searches for drivers everytime I turn it on. Can I turn it off, what would I lose? Or maybe I lose nothing as it can't find the drivers anyway??

I updated my Acer 5920g with Windows 7 in September 2009. Everyone worked fine. I haven't bothered with any of the Acer software as I don't really need it. Everything else downloaded automatically when I did the Windows Updates afterwards.

Nice to know Quackpot, generally I'm happy with the upgrade, all went well. Even though it says unable to install driver for PCI Mem Controller when I go into Computer Management it says its working properly although if I select Update Driver I get the message about Flash Cache Chip (above).

Strange but sounds like I'll have to live with it.

Hi Graemzy,

That link looks like downloads I'm after but the chipset downloads are for XP or Vista. Which one did you use for Windows 7?

Thanks
