Hi Hillbilly 123

As for the desktop icons right click on the desktop go to view and choose your icon size from there small/medium/large.

Check in your internet options on the menu bar Tools-Internet Options-General that the delete browsing history on exit box is not checked.

Hope this helps

Danny

Have done that and icons still come up large.

In history only the main page i have visited comes up not the pages on that site that I have opened. Also if i go back and visit a page in last weeks history it does not then show up in todays.

Try this, press ctrl and windows key at the same time and scroll your mouse wheel up or down until you have them the size you want.

Ok the icons could be a screen resolution issue right click on desktop and check the resolution is set to your screen size or the recommended size.Is it onlt the icons that are large or are explorer windows and text large too

As for ie9 not sure about that, sure someone else will know better. You could try resetting IE or restoring advanced settings see if that works but be aware if you reset you will loose all your history and default settings will be applied.

I am using apple's safari browser or google chrome, can't stand ie. i have my former laptop as my desktop now it is a apple powerbook from 2001, only reason it was retired from laptop service was the fact that apple no longer has a battery for it and the available aftermarket batteries suck. windows 7 is very much improved from windows 95,98.xp and vista, but still haven't made up my mind if its better than os x yet.... only had it for a week so far and it is working perfect so far so maybe, just maybe microsoft has got it right!

Generally, not liking other browsers is due to not being accustomed to them. If a browser has to look like IE, feel like IE and act like IE, then you are doomed to to IE forever. If you ever feel that you need to get out of that rut, and are willing to suffer withdrawal long enough to perceive reality, then I would suggest Opera as a realistic hospice. I'm sure that there wil be things about it that you don't like, but once you get the feel for it, you would never consider using IE again...except on rare occasions where you are forced to, such as Windows Updates, or at some website where the web designer is too incompetent to design the site appropriately.

Yes maybe so but until last week I have been quite happy with IE.

Today there is no history AT ALL and I have been on at least 20 sites in the last 2 hours.

Cant find anywhere to change things so am at a loss.

Have never had this trouble ever in the last 15 years of using IE

Tried a restore back to last week but still no go.:(

I have a cure and it is a strange one!

Tools-Internet Options-Content-Autocomplete-Settings

Untick the box use "Windows search for better results"

Just tried it on mine and visited about 20 websites and they are in my history.

I do not remember actually ticking this box so I wonder if a Windows Update did it??

Cheers,

Henry
