i've been having stability issues trying to get 16Gb to run on my system. i've also had 3 meltdown in the past month and reloading my program-heavy system is taking a toll on production...

before last week's meltdown, i contacted corsair and was told to reset the bios to defaults which i did and it kinda worked - i only had one or two of the random system restarts (no BSOD) in a couple of weeks compared to many restarts per day.

last week, on 16Gb, i got stuck at the login screen and was unable to recover from it, therefore having to reluctantly reinstall. in order to reinstall, i have to take some memory out - in this case, i installed with 8Gb.

Something took on this install because it has been running great - except when i tried to reinstall all of the 16 gigs - now i got the BSOD. i reset the bios - same results... the fix has been to remove 4Gb of expensive memory i took out 4Gb and she's a stable as a rock

i've contacted Asus asking them why their boards say they're supposed to support 16Gb because i've yet to reallly see it happen...

Is this a hardware or software thing?
windows logs and dumps are different pretty much every time
help!!!
frustrated...

If you wish to have others assist you with your computer's BSOD symptoms, upload the contents of your "\Windows\Minidump" folder. The procedure:

* Copy the contents of \Windows\Minidump to another (temporary) location somewhere on your machine.
* Zip up the copy.
* Attach the ZIP archive to your post using the "paperclip" (file attachments) button.
* Briefly describe the problem history and circumstances in the same post. Somebody will attend to your query as soon as possible.

I have to ask. Curiosity n all that.

The RAM part # you gave. On the Corsair site it lists CMX8GX3M2A1333C9 as a 8GB (2x4GB) set.
Did you buy two sets at the same time and do the numbers match? (part #, batch # etc..)
Have you run Memtest86+ to establish whether you have a dodgy stick or Mobo slot? Are your timings right? No overclocking etc.
Download CPU-Z. Take screenshots/snips of the Memory tab and all the slot#'s under the SPD tab. Attach the images directly to a post using the paper clip option.

the ram was purchased at the same time, so the sticks match and i've run memtest on them with no errors...

i have not overclocked the board and corsair recommended i set the bios to defaults, which kind of worked for awhile, so i assumed the timings were correct...

i'm not sure about installing cpu-z as my system will not boot with 16Gb. if you are interested in seeing cpu-z with 12Gb i can upload that... please let me know...

and to others, i will upload my dmp files soon...

thanks for your interest,
adam

today, instead of resetting the bios, i set the memory timings to corsair's recommendations 1066mhz@ 9-9-9-24 2T @ 1.65V... runs great with 12Gb, but still getting a bluescreen (just flashes then restarts)... the system is not creating a dmp file, the only thing i can find is the cbs.log file. i have uploaded it for you to inspect...

thanks,
adam

I could gather from your first post you knew what was what, so, not on my account!
You get the times when people have stuck in a 1GB 800mhz Kingair, a 2GB 533mhz Corston and an unknown they found under the wardrobe...
