Windows 8 setup screenshot hints at forthcoming leak

The only think that really bothers me is it looks like it is a VB project. cause if you look at the glass portion you can see a background that doesn't look like it would be an installer background.

Why are you being to defensive? You can't make people change their minds and force your opinion upon them...

Who gives a damn about this anyway, seriously? It's far too soon to be thinking about Windows 8 at all, it doesn't even matter if these are fake or not. Getting ahead of ourselves could only bring disappointment, so a little patience is in order, don't you all agree?

Correct, Windows 7 is only 2-3 years old as of now and Windows 8 is most likely not due for another 2-3 years. I say wait another year until we shift focus for Windows 8 (or whatever is might be called). Sure, it's okay to speculate, but lets focus on Windows 7 for the time being, it will be more interesting to read about at that time.

well the screens could be fake, but who would bother faking them, its not that exciting.

I would have expected MS to be pumping out Windows 8 by at least mid 2012 to keep their sales rolling. However, Windows 7 is a solid product, I wouldn't plan upgrading too soon anyway.

No it isn't

LOL. :geek:

This just keeps getting better and better. Neowin used to be the badboys, then MDL got in the game. Piratebay had a field day and now WZOR.

Don't forget, some leaks are wanted and WZOR has some great plugs.

As for win 8, it's fake.

The setup shots are indeed genuine and come from Build 7850, which is an early M1 build still under the 6.1 version number. (6.1.7850.0.winmain_win8m1.100922-1508) I don't think Zukona would waste his time by posting fake screenshots.

If Zukona decides to leak a Windows 8 build it won't be 7850, that's for sure. It's unlikely that anything will leak until Microsoft begin preparation for the Beta 1 phase of development.

Milestone leaks are not a first. Usually, they screw up your machine pretty fast. I remember when I installed a milestone of XP. Crashed 2 minutes after first boot.

Windows ME was a milestone from milestone to RTM. :geek:

I have just been reading through this thread and although obvious it a fake but did anyone notice on the second screeneis it says - -

"checking to see what Windows 8 can keep from windows 7"

Since when does an operating system keep counterparts from an exsisting OS, or is this something you get with Upgrade installs?

Don't ever remember hearing Windows 7 keeping stuff from Vista or Vista keeping bits from XP (Yes i know they are completely seperate OS's XP and Vista, its just an example).

People in this world have way too much time on their hands.

Those images don't show any significance worth noting. It could easily be altered look that way in the worst case, however even in the best case situation it offers no insight into what Windows 8 may offer. These kind of threads appear to only try to stir up drama, similar to how on the Mac forums where everyone's posting leaked photos of OSX 11 Lion (which is obviously fake because O-S TEN ELEVEN makes no sense).

Please keep in mind that Microsoft are currently working on all aspects of Windows 8. Within the company there are several development teams, each developing different area's of the OS, In this case there will be teams dealing with the overall with setup and install experience. Right now it is literally impossible to determine what Microsoft could possibly be changing within the setup and install process of Windows 8 without physically using it.

The wording and overall experience of the installation will be changing frequently throughout the entire development process of Windows 8, just like everything else.

As I mentioned previously, these screenshots are genuine and come from an early M1 build of the OS (6.1.7850.0.winmain_win8m1.100922-1508) This information was confirmed by the member canouna over at My Digital Life forums. The screenshots themselves were taken by Zukona, both a well known and reliable source for many internal Microsoft happenings.

I'm not asking anyone to believe that these are real, I'm only stating the facts as they come.

Huh? Windows 7 is Vista, with a couple of tweaks here and there. Even Vista which was quite a departure from XP kept significant parts of XP code. The same is true for the evolution of any OS. It would make no sense at all to continuously keep reinventing the wheel.

Yes, but there was never a case where a newer OS could use resources from an older OS; it just makes no sense to me, but perhaps MS have something else in mind *shrugs*
Perhaps it is stuff like drivers, plugins (Flash, Java), stuff like that, maybe programs you installed that can work on both OSs instead of you having to reinstall everything once you set up the new OS. That sounds pretty cool to me.

Just an assumption, of course.
