Windows 8 setup screenshot hints at forthcoming leak

The setup shots are indeed genuine and come from Build 7850, which is an early M1 build still under the 6.1 version number. (6.1.7850.0.winmain_win8m1.100922-1508) I don't think Zukona would waste his time by posting fake screenshots.

If Zukona decides to leak a Windows 8 build it won't be 7850, that's for sure. It's unlikely that anything will leak until Microsoft begin preparation for the Beta 1 phase of development.

My argument that they're fake still stands. If you're going to show screen shots of Windows 8, who would waste their time on such lame ones?

Since when does an operating system keep counterparts from an exsisting OS, or is this something you get with Upgrade installs?

Don't ever remember hearing Windows 7 keeping stuff from Vista

Huh? Windows 7 is Vista, with a couple of tweaks here and there. Even Vista which was quite a departure from XP kept significant parts of XP code. The same is true for the evolution of any OS. It would make no sense at all to continuously keep reinventing the wheel.

I know that! but as i am about to say below.

Yes, but there was never a case where a newer OS could use resources from an older OS; it just makes no sense to me, but perhaps MS have something else in mind *shrugs*

That is what i mean, but still the more i think about it, why would an older OS keep the bits already installed on the current OS.
That would mean, the new OS would need to modify the program/s already installed to work with the new one. By that point, it would have been quicker to install a fresh new version.

And also, what if you were doing a fresh/clean install (Upgrade or full is regardless) well the program/s would no longer be there so they would be missing, meaning the fresh install would need to install the program/s anyway.

Fake or no fake, leak or no leak, i am just making a logical point that is to do with those screenies.

On another note, I wonder how the look will change if at all.

To be perfectly honest, its slightly getting boring now. Since the days of Win 95 layouts really have not changed much, the start menu is similar, windows are similar, menus are simliar. Christ even the Control panel is similar.

They just seem to 'better'.

Its like having the same kitchen cupboards for a decade, you might update the doors and handles but underneath its just the same skeleton cupboard.

Win 8 needs to be a completely different look and feel (Is that not the point in 'New')
