Hello,
At the moment I have IE8 x64 and x32 on my Windows7 x64 Ultimate.

Do I need to have both versions of the IE9 downloaded[x32bit & x64bit] to have smooth experience of web surfing?

Is the latest IE9 available for down-load the final version?

Regards

If you are using the 64-bit version of Windows 7 or Vista, you will need to install the 64-bit version of IE9RC. It installs both 32-bit and 64-bit versions of the browser so you can use either. For 32-bit OSes, you will, of course, have to install the 32-bit version.

Hello Airbot,
could I ask a hypothetical question, if you don't mind.

When I originally installed the IE 8 after my Win7 x64 OS instalment, as I am from Europe I had to download the IE8. I was suggested to download and install both [x32bit & x64bit] versions of the IEs to have a smooth experience of web surfing.

Now my question is if I download and install the latest IE9 x64 bit, will my x32bit IE8 remain available to use in my computer?

What do you feel?

Regards

Installing IE9 will remove IE8, the only way to get IE8 back is to uninstall IE9

Hi Dwarf,
You have answered my question while I was formulating my response to earlier answer.

There is a link suggests the IE final version is available above. Shouldn't one go for the final version than the RC?

As Dwarf points out above, install both, but after that, there's no forcing of you in having to use x64 version for browsing the web. You could just use the x86 version. IE9 replaces IE8 I believe so if you wanted to use IE8, you'll need to uninstall IE9, so that it brings IE8 back after it's uninstallation.

Only the RC has just been released. I don't see where there's any link to a final IE9.

I got mixed up.
This morning when I went to the MS site it was displayed as IE9 RC.
This afternoon I received an e-mail from MS offer the IE9 and when I went through that link I did not show RC after the IE9. This made me wonder if that was the final release.

Sorry for asking misleading question.
Thank you all for prompt answer.

Regards

Hi Aaron,

You don't need to install both on a 64-bit system. The 64-bit version of IE9RC will update both 64-bit and 32-bit components as necessary. Whichever version you choose to use, 32-bit or 64-bit, it will be IE9RC.

A quicky

Have got 9 beta on board and my favourites in the Fav bar I like to keep ready logged in there. Will these go over to RC if I install it as they did when I went form 8 to 9 beta?

Actually having a few minor glitches with 9 beta at the moment ie. having to hit enter on a searched page twice before it loads that searched page. The first hit comes in Times New Roman font then the second as Arial > then the page one wants. Is this also going to carry over if I get RC?

Oh forgot do you have uninstall the beta before getting RC as I didn't going from 8 to 9, it just replaced it.

Answer to first question: Yes; Answer to second question: Probably. The other thing that could happen is that the RC may fix some of the issues that you have in the Beta but may cause new ones specific to the RC; Answer to third question: No. You can install over it.
