Update from Windows 7 Home edition to Professional or better fr Two pc

Hi guys,
I would like to upgrade from Home edition Windows 7 tot Windows 7 Professional
and i was wondering if there s no way to get a reduction as i would like to do this upgrade from Home to professional for both computer.
Just bought two office packages and i m broke right now ...Still need to eat lol
But really need professional as i started studying for my MCDST Win 7

ps Normally this update should mean that i have to back up or reinstall any data right?
I mean this was already the case with XP so it should also be like that with Win 7 i guess

You can painlessly switch from home premium to pro using Anytime Upgrade. It takes 10 minutes or so and its non-destructive so your data, apps and settings are untouched. You'll need to buy an Anytime Upgrade key for pro. But one key, one PC, so upgrading on both means 2 keys.

Upgrade to another edition of Windows 7 by using Windows Anytime Upgrade

Hey Thanks you very much for your reply.....I have a home edition with the windows partition on the d drive which i find at least to say annoying....Do you know if there s a way for me to get the installation cd if i buy the Pro edition offcourse i mean having your windows partition on cd is just better in case of Pc outages right?

Also if i upgrade i do get a serial right i mean my pc crashed already once and that was just a mayor bummer don t wanna be buying another one

Are you sure you need Professional version to complete certification? Home Premium includes everything most users need.

Always back up your Product Keys as you would anything of that value.

If you find having Win7 on D annoying, next time you reinstall be sure to boot the installer as Win7 will always see itself as C unless installed from another OS.

If you need another versions' installer, unlock all versions by extracting the ISO file using ImgBurn, then run the ei.cfg tool to unlock all versions, burn another all-versions DVD to install your licensed version(s).

If your system volume is D, that means you had another formatted drive present during the install, and you didn't pay attention on the summary screen. It isn't the end of the world, as the system would still work fine, but only a clean install of Home Premium will let you fix that.

Now, if money is an issue, I'd take one of the suggestions above and use the Pro trial. You get 120 days. You could load VirtualBox and run the Pro trial in a virtual machine, so you won't be messing with your primary host system. This would be especially useful in the event you broke something, and needed to restore. With a virtual machine, it is a simple as copying the file back over the unusable one.

You re advice was very worthfull only one question
If i install this trial I does it extend my Home PremiumVersion installed right now or does it setup a new Professional windows 7 partition ?
Which means i will have to back up all my data as i don t want to loose anything.
The one and only reason why i would like update is that i bought the win 7 Configuring Windows 70-680 and Windows 7 Entreprise Desktop Support Technician book 70-685 Past my mcp 270-271 long time ago 10 years move towards Linux for abouts 9 years and now After gettings settled with Windows 7 home premium on my laptop i bought a second desktop also home premium. Happy to be back windows 7 is just great No need anymore to dive into another Os
But finishing this study is going to very tought without the A Home Professional version as is quoted in the beginning of the book. As for work reasons i have an exam in may. Eventually moving into Professional edition offcourse but for now a free temporary update would be better, just to finish these two exams. Windows 7 is a new experience i must say the fact i was not working with XP for almost 10 years will not have bettered my skills.

To install Professional to another partition on the HD, shrink the Home Premium partition in Device Manager enough to install Pro. http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/2672-partition-volume-shrink.html

To unlock Professional version in your Home Premium installer, extract the ISO using ImgBurn, run the ei.cfg removal tool on it, then burn unlocked all-versions ISO to DVD using ImgBurn at 4x speed with Verify.

Now boot the all-versions installer, choose Professional version, Custom install, use Drive Options to create a New partition in the space you shrank, Format it and install there.
