Well I will buy a copy because I will have to

support it on some of my client's computers.. but the most common question I am being asked now by friends and clients is

"Why should I spend money on a new OS" and "what will it do for my business?" ..

..and the answers are "you don't need to" and "not a lot".

There is absolutely no reason why a company with a stable XP set-up should spend hundreds or thousands of $$ on 7.

If someone is stuck with the dreadful Vista I would recommend upgrading ASAP, though why MS expect people to pay for what is effectively "Vista that works" is beyond me.

If Vista had been a new car there would have been a mass recall of all sold vehicles until they had fixed the problems.

i posted similar comments on another thread. it's going to be virtually impossible for me to justify the upgrade at work. we have a stable xp network running on m$ server 08. i can't give a viable reason for upgrading to 7.

The main reason is that support for hardware new hardware will rapidly disappear. Like it or not, PC's do need replacing and manufacturers won't continue to support newer hardware with XP drivers....they simply can't afford to spend the time and money on adapting old technology (XP is nearly 10 years old now).
What new hardware supports Win2K with drivers??? Not a lot of it.
Tried installing the newest iTunes onto Win2K....it simply will not install.
There is also the question of continued support from Microsoft in terms of Security updates etc....so XP will become obsolete very soon....Welcome to the New Age.

the only hardware we need to run is our network printer and projector. i know what ur saying about new hardware but it's a long way off before we need to upgrade the os because hardware won't run on xp...(why are you mentioning win2K? again, it's gonna quite a while before xp users are in that boat)

I am talking of MB drivers....Chipset Drivers, etc. You will be surprised at how quickly support for new releases vanishes for XP.

It is finny how no-one complains about Apple not providing backwards compatibility on their newer releases...yet they expect PC OEM's and Hardware OEM's to provide driver support for a 10 year old Operating System....Microsoft made a rod for their own back there I think.
The Win2K reference was for comparison....and it is valid....I mean we still have 2 Win2K PC's here as well as our Server here in Sydney is Server 2000.

yeah..i know what ur saying but i'm talking about businesses like the one i work at where xp works just fine as is. i know in the future an os upgrade will be necessary but i can't see it being needed for quite some time (certainly past windows 7)

i'm trying to builds arguements for the upgrade but i'm afraid i'll lose coz there's really no viable benefit for the company at this stage
