Win7 SP1 released to public

It's Win7 with SP1 included? If it's I'll install it later...

That's the ISO with both 32 bit and 64 bit versions. You can burn that to a DVD.

All you really need to install is the EXE file for 32 bit or 64 bit, whichever you have.

Or you can just get the components you lack via Windows Update.

I installed SP1 and now find that my Startup and Shutdown sequence takes a little longer than usual. Otherwise, the system remains snappy.

I noticed ie9 is getting slow to respond after Sp1 installed ...so I rolled it back to ie8 ..and it's kind a faster ....
I'm gonna to reinstall ie9 rc tommorow see if it runs any faster ...

After installing SP 1 file transfer speeds seem to be more stable and steady. I transferred my 2 newly created backup images of SP 1 approx 21 GB each to a second external drive and the transfer speeds were constant at 23.1 MB/s.

This is the first time I have seen this as the file transfer speeds for any given file usually start dropping after a couple of minutes and sometimes almost stop. Lets hope the good luck continues.

Got mine on both machines this am didn't take that long but it's rooted the settings in my WMP plus my outgoing WLM is not working.

Whole system seems a bit slower but at least it's done!

Edit yeh the taskbar is acting real funny doesn't start with a single click anymore.

I installed from windows update.
It changed my start button back to normal.
The start button program no longer works.
Tried to set it back no go.
Maybe an updated version will come out.
I am useing Change Windows 7 Start Orb with Windows 7 Start Button Changer | The Windows Club
But other then that the computer works great.

Whew, finally back to normal. I started just before noon with a diskpart clean all and have been working to get everything back since (with some time outs for other things). Tomorrow I'll do the backup. For those not seeing SP1 in Windows Update remember you'll need 976902 installed first if you didn't allow WU to do it before.

SP1 sure radically changes the interface don't it?

Last month when I was reviewing the 635 hot fixes and updates included in SP1 I believe I saw a hot fix that fixed a problem with large files being transferred to external drives. So maybe it fixed a problem you did not know you had.

Yes.... I have all the other critical updates installed.

if you go into windows update view update history right click on the update you have error with
click view details a window should pop up with the error
click get help with this error
then another window opens then click on click to open the windows update troubleshooter
run the troubleshooter and see if this helps (watch the promps)

I got it now. Not sure if it was a server issue or MSE. I disabled MSE and the download completed and the SP installed. I'll chuck it up to a server issue.

Anyway all is good now




Once it got going it was pretty quick.

its good to run the troubleshooter windows will correct errors in the installer etc for you

A coworker installed it today on his work laptop and got his first BSOD ever on Windows 7. Needless to say, he was holding his head saying, maybe I should have waited a little longer. He asked me what I thought of it, since I am the one who downloaded it. I said, I don't know...I haven't touched it. HaHa.

W7 64bit Home Premium:

Installed it today, and I had 2 total lockups (first 2 ever) followed by a BSOD. I restored my machine and all is good again. Also I had this problem: http://www.sevenforums.com/windows-updates-activation/146300-sp1-intel-graphics-problem.html

I shouldn't have tried to fix what wasn't broken.

With my line speed, the x64 download will finish in about 12 hours. Hopefully when it's done and installed, my problem of not being able to install Internet Explorer 9 RC will be solved...

To answer the question - No.... I have version 2.0.657.0.

Anyway I've re-enabled MSE and there are no strange issues as of yet. It's obviously too early to tell. We'll see what happens as I still think it was a server issue on Microsoft's side.

BTW I just completed a couple of levels in Dead Space 2 and didn't run into any "gaming" issues with SP1 installed. Just thought I'd toss that out for those concerned. Will test out Crysis later.

I clicked on the checkbox when it appeared in Windows Update to download and install SP1. Rebooted it when the initial work was done then walked away for about 20 minutes while it did its thing and came back and SP1 was successfully installed. As I expected, nothing really changed and everything looked and worked just about the same.
