Hey peeps,

I just been reading Punksters sticky on upgarding graphics cards.

Read down to the tables and read about my 570 and i think i may be in trouble.

Currently i only have the one 570 and according to that table, the 570 uses 40A on its own.

Now i popped over to Thermaltakes site and looked up my card and to my amazment i read this table -

2011-02-25_164718.jpg

Now, i have no idea if my card is on +12V1 or +12V4 (Did'nt even know this but i am guessing the +12V4 is for 8-pin plugs and the formaer for 6-pin plugs, just a guess).

But to add to this, i had a 470 running as my main card before and this was overclocked quite a lot by me (its a standard 470). can't remeber my clocks of hand but they were high.

I never had a problem with power, i.e. random shutdowns.

So, to get to my point, am i pushing my luck using this PSU with this card plus my 470 running as physx or is it high time to upgrade this.

Don't really want to go down upgrade route as i have one mother of powerful PSU that would just be wasted.

Or am i just being a worry warts, sorry but i have spent a lot of money on my little HAF-ey and really don't want to have to spend anymore.

Lucky

the 570 uses 40A on its own.

No it doesn't. That number is the recommended for everything; CPU, video card, ram, etc, not just the video card.

Probably a good guess.

Or am i just being a worry warts,

Yes you are. :p :D

Thanks Stormy, this is one area i am never sure on is power. I have always gone by Wattage on a PSU.

+1 for alleviating my anxiety a bit there.

This is correct.

All those numbers are calculated taking into account a system containing basic components.

As for the OP, don't even worry about it mate, the GPU will be able to draw power from all the +12V rails. Not just one.

You're fine, It's a freaking 1200W PSU! lol, you could even pop 2 more GTX 570s and be completely fine.
