I was going to try the one doing the rounds but decided to hold off for the official one, then I couldn't blame bad frames etc on it being a dodgy copy.

It would seem that Cryteks/Gamespy servers are a little strained at the moment. Some users are finding success with nics used to play either Crysis 1 or Crysis Warhead multiplayer.
The official word is that Crytek is aware of the problem and is trying to sort it out although there is no ETA.

game play is pretty good. I would like to see fov settings, individual graphic settings, and maybe more ppl in the server. But I already get avg 40 fps in a full server, gonna lag even more if there's more ppl

I used to think Crytek were one of the best PC developers as they pushed PC hardware and left console, but when I read this before they've just gone the same way as other developers and do straight ports. Though it was expected as soon as Crysis 2 was announced.
