So, I know that it's best to do a Clean install and all that JAZZ.. but Here is my question.

I'm about to set up a Raid Array. I have the RC right now. and I'm running that fine. I'll be changing all the settings in the BIOS to enable the Raid Array, then I have to load into the Raid BIOS Utility and set it up. Then I need to Start the PC, and boot to the install Disk and Install my OS. as you have to reinstall an OS when you run Raid.

So here is my question. Do I just do just what I said above, and not worry about my current Installed OS. And after I setup the Raid Array. I restart and boot from the Disk, and install the new 7201, and the Windows installer will see the new 1280GB Partition that is my Raid Array. and install to that, and format it and all that, and I don't need to Uninstall my old Win 7 OS or anything right? I just run the Install and it does all the work? Right?

Any replies ASAP would be great.. Thanks!

ye sorry i meant LEAKED.
I have downloaded 7229 but since i installed 7201 yesterday i won't going to waste more time on formating and reinstalling so i'll be waiting for the leaked rtm. And it's better to not install new over the old.

No need to uninstall, when you create the array all data will be lost.

Meanwhile, us people that live in the real world look forward to a little fruther out... more like 5 weeks to RC2 for the next build to be released for public testing.

I'm glad we've got ahold of some recent builds on here, we'll look forward to more to come.

and as long as your not upgrading cross-build milestones, like from 7100 to 7201, your 10x better off doing a build-upgrade; this is the most stable, and reliable way to install win7.

As for your issue, just perform your steps, and instead of installing a newOS, run a win7 repair, with yur install disc.

let us know how this goes.

a repair wouldn't have worked since when you set up raid it formats the drive. it took everything off, Including the MBR.

I went ahead and set it all up. formatted the new Raid array. and booted into the win 7 7201 install disk, It didn't see a raid array but 2 seperate drives. I thought raid drivers were built in on vista and win7. so I used my flash drive to install the Nvidia 750i Raid drivers and Wallaaaa all was good.

Win 7 Build 7201 is up and running smoothly on my new Raid0 Array. Works great and seems fine.

Thanks guys!

What happens when going from two individual drives to enabling those for an array is they become tied together and trash any existing information. When installing the RC on the previous pair of drives used for an XP/Vista dual boot with Vista remaining on one good bye Vista baby!

There were no remaining traces of Vista left once the installation was seen using the other first drive of the array as the host/boot there. For an existing installation you can opt to use the upgrade method to preserve everything installed or perform a full reformat for the clean install method like you have now.

The fun comes later if you elect to split the array up and still run both drives. Each will need to cleaned again and the present host see the next installation with the second drive unplugged. Later when plugged back in it will need to be initialized to become seen as "online" and not "offline" and unavailable.
