Internet Explorer 9 RTW (release to web) is just a couple of days away. And with IE9 RTW scheduled to go live on March 14th, 2011 at 9 p.m., the browser has already been downloaded well in excess of 36 million times.

Even so, IE9’s journey will only truly begin on Monday. Starting next week, Windows Vista SP2 and Windows 7 users running IE8 will have an amazing upgrade available, guaranteed to take their browsing experience to the next level.
And customers that switched from IE to Firefox and Chrome will finally have a valid reason to switch back, with those thinking about jumping ship also bound to find reasons for a change of heart. In preparation for the IE9 RTW launch in just two days, I thought I’d provide my view of why Firefox and Chrome users would love IE9.

There's a whole lot of convincing rather than marketing behind this browser

I've tried IE9 beta and find it is just ok - do real add-ons/extensions exist? where's the browser optimization/personalization rather than adding every corporation's toolbar/"extension".

I want something I can tone to my needs, not theirs. Does it even offer smooth scrolling?

I'm sure this browser will be exciting for IE users and good for them but I'm not convinced

Already noticed a problem with that comparison chart. firefox 4 has the ability to re-open closed tabs. In light of an oversight that basic, how many grains of salt should I take the rest of the article with? In fact, the entire article reads like an ad from Microsoft, not a real impartial article. That said, I doubt I'll like IE9 any more than I (dis)liked IE7 and IE8. The UI is just... bad.

If IE9's speed is up to or faster then Chrome then I'll for sure like it and give it a full try, whats the worse thing that can happen I don't find I use it as much as Chrome and I delete it.

1. This is the most non-IE Internet Explorer ever
Of course,if you want a non-IE like browser, just use one. That's the most ridiculous reason ever.
2. Site-centric UI design
It has a new look and feel, as do other browsers. So, that's not very convincing.
3. One Box
Hmm, non issue for me. I NEVER use the search box, I always hit Google. Force of habit
4. Performance
Well, thus far on IE9 RC, it doesn't really feel any faster than FF4 RC or Chrome 10. Non issue.
5. Security
Remains to be seen. Historically other browsers have faired better.
6. Privacy
Unsure on this yet, time will tell
7. Hardware acceleration
IE is faster, no doubt. But nearly no site that I actually use, runs anything requiring this. So, pointless as far as I am concerned (at present).
8. Platform integration
I use Linux machines as often as I do Windows. That's why I like FF, same thing on both platforms. I prefer cross platform over this.
9. Playing nice with HTML5, CSS3, DOM, SVG, and still not breaking the web
So, IE9 is better at following standards than it used to be. I'd rather use browers that have been compliant longer.

As you can tell, I'm about as excited about IE9 as I am about the next version of Mac OSX. I don't use it, and I really don't care about it.

Of course IE9 has come a long way from their former browsers but still I like my addons from firefox that I can customize to my preferences also I can even change the pipelining and connections in firefox when you type about:config in the web browser of it. IE9 has it's purpose for me and that purpose is that some sites do not support firefox like your tax programs and banking they just wont allow any other web browser to function correctly so in my opinion their both required and I do like the new IE9...
