Holy crap, are you guys actually sitting here waiting for the download of Internet Explorer 9? This is sillier than the midnight release of a video game. I'll go to bed, get up in the morning, make my way to work and then when I fire up my browser at some point I'll go to Microsoft Corporation and download it.

Well, it's only 8:40 PM here and I'm just watching some TV. Too early for bed. Now if I were on the East Coast or in the UK or something, then I would just do it the next day.

A friend installed this tonight and told me that it required him to restart his computer to complete the install? Can anybody confirm, I don't think Chrome or Firefox had this requirement.?

Yep. It's a Windows Update that requires a restart

Hmmmm....can anybody else confirm that "smooth scrolling" using a touchpad on a laptop seems a bit jerky in IE9 when moving slowly? The first thing I noticed is that it's not as smooth as other browsers. I checked the checkbox and it's enabled. If I scroll really fast it's fine, but if I just try to slowly scroll down a thread here, it's really choppy. I would have not expected this with all of the hardware acceleration stuff.

The restart caught me by surprise, especially since it didn't 'fully' restart.

What do you mean it didn't "fully" restart?

It shut down explorer and IE, and a few other programs for me and then restarted most them.
It did not do a restart of the system.

I installed IE 9 on two systems, one with the full download and it asked for a restart and the other after downloading a small installer ( on top of the RC) that only restarted explorer.
