Hardware Configuration for the Perfect 7.9 Windows 7 Score

How could a 4850 possible get 7.9 for anything? either you photo-shopped that image or u have a seriously weird score.

A gen 2 SSD likely in raid and a high-end DX 11 card will get a 7.9 For the memory 1600 and the CPU a I7
I think the CPU is the hardest part to go to 7.9

Need another ssd for raid 0 and i thik it will go up to 7.9

Nice rig GD99,

Your OCZ Vertex 2 should be getting more than 7.1, have you checked the alignment, have the latest drivers, are you using AHCI mode?

Two SSDs in Raid0 should get you a 7.9, if you have it setup right ;)

First thing, especially for a OCZ SSD, don't run very many benchmarks.
One maximum, per logon session. I wouldn't run more than one for three months.
With a new SSD you will likely run a couple in the first month, just try to not over do it.

For all SSDs, writing a lot of files for just a benchmark is a waste of the drives life.

Easiest way to get three important bits of information is to D/L and open AS SSD beenchmark. I do NOT recommend that you run this benchmark on an OCZ SSD. First, it won't give you anything close to the published specs for this SSD, as it uses un-compressible data. OCZ's SandForce controllers compress data before writting it to the SSD.

Just open the AS SSD benchmark program, in the upper left corner it will list the SSD brand, Firmware version, Driver, Alignment details, Useable volume in GBs.
This will let you check the firmware version, check the OCZ site for the latest version.
The IDE, AHCI or RAID driver, check your Device Manager for the driver version number. Your should be using the Intel RAID RST driver.
Alignment info, if it is in Red font it's not aligned correctly, if it is in Green font it is aligned correctly.

How did you install win7 to the SSD?
Win7 will make most of the important setting changes by itself.
Initially you should point the win7 install at the un-formatted SSD, fresh out of the box. Win7 will do all the basic setting changes.

If you installed win7 to an un-formatted SSD, your alignment should be corect.

There is better preformance from AHCI or RAID mode, use Raid, they are basically the same as far as performance goes.
You don't have to have any drives in a RAID array, they will be seen as a non-RAID drive.
This is changed in BIOS, follow this tutorial to change it.
