Can a Logitech Trackman be used in gaming?

I have no experience in gaming. I was given a copy of Assasins Creed and HAWX2. I tried playing the latter last evening but couldn't get pass the first "frame" that was of a jet fighter; the engine was running and I was to take off (being the unseen pilot).

I tried clicking with my mouse on various parts of the "dashboard" or "control panel" but nothing worked.

Besides being a newbie at gaming I am thinking that the problem is my mouse which is a Logitech Trackman with a thumb ball. This mouse is the best for me because of an injury that sometimes causes sudden cramping in my right hand. I do have a MX518 Logitech gaming mouse. However it is preferrable to avoid switching back and forth between the Trackman and MX518 if possible.

I did a little browsing and it seems a gaming version of the Logitech Trackman is being considered, but only if they decide there's a market for it. Sorry to hear about your injury but I think you'll just have to play games with your other gaming mouse. If your injury is completely sudden I'm not sure what to do about it (maybe there's a medical solution?) but if you notice it 'only' comes up after at least half an hour, I suggest you take long comfortable breaks after every 30 mins of gaming

Thanks for taking the time to reply and especially for going through the trouble of searching for information on the web.

There is no medical solution for my injury outside of an operation which I refuse to have because the doctors are so uncertain of the causes of the sudden cramping and the possible outcome of the operation.

I will keep both mouses on my desk.

I did some more searching around on the web and for comfortable and easy trackball gaming the following trackball devices are most oftenly recommended;

Logitech Trackman Marble (not sure if this is the same one as yours?)
Kensington Expert Mouse

Sorry to hear there's no medical solution for your injury. Hopefully someday a doctor will know exactly what the problem is and help you solve it.

Thanks for the well wishes. As for the Trackman, I have the Logitech Trackman Marble for the right thumb. It is pictured here

It is the fifth one on the first row, going left to right. I've been fortunate that Logitech still makes the trackball mouse for the thumb and that a local pc store sometimes have them in stock. I prefer the USB mouse over the cordless as the cordless has given many people problems (Logitech's forum is FULL of complaints concerning the cordless trackball).

Then you have the most comfortable one already Maybe there's just a bug in HAWX2 then, that you can't get past the first screen. Have you check the system requirements?
