Hi.

I upgraded my Mobo, CPU, installed a new SSD and new data drive.

I own an upgrade Windows 7 Premium disk. I had been running Windows 7 Premium 64 on my previous machine.

Now when I do a clean install, it says my product key is not valid.

Is there anything I can do to be able to use this, or will I need to purchase full version of Windows 7? I hope that is not th answer.

Thanks for your help.

To clean install with upgrade media, use this workaround.

If you did that and still get the error, you need to use the phone activation method.

Thanks for the response, however, it seems these will not work. I get stuck on #13 of the clean install, where it asks for the product key. It says the key is invalid. I can't even get to the point of activation, I can't even get the product key recogonized as valid. I am stumped.

Did you read? That tutorial says NOT to check the Automatically activate Windows when I'm online box during the install process and to manually activate afterwards.

Yes, I did read that and had Activation on line unchecked. I think I just figured it out. I left the product key box blank and clicked next. It allowed me to finish the install. It did not like the product key I had from the Upgrade Retail box I was using.

Now I will just call and activate via phone.

Thanks again for your help. I do appreciate it.
