Hey guys,

I've used Win7 as my main OS since I installed 7077 but I figure now's time to upgrade to a newer build. I have 7127, 7201 and 7229 all 64 bit editions. Couple questions. Should I download 7137? Is it worth it? Which build of the following three listed above would you choose? My specs are

Dell Studio 1735
4GB Ram
Core 2 Duo T5750 2.00GHz
Intel 965GM Graphics
IDT High Def Audio

Replies are gratefully appreciated!

I have tried 7229 but I went back to 7127 as I had problems with Punkbuster in build 7229 and there were no noticeable differences between them anyway.

I didn't try 7201, but I think you should be happy with 7127.

i tried both and found them both to be quite well, but then again i didn't really use PunkBuster on 7201 so I would say stick with 7127, but don't even touch 7137. 7137 by far was the worst build for me. i am currently on 7231 and haven't touched 7229 but now won't.

Agreed. I wish I'd stayed with 7127. 7137 didn't go well for me at all.
Now I'm on 7229 but I can't honestly say I prefer it to 7127 and if I hit any problems I'll do a fresh install of 7127.

cheers, john:)

Just a last note on this topic, which ever build I decide to install will be the last build I install before I install the RTM version. It seems its a battle between 7127 and 7201. I have both builds so its just a choice of which to install. A lot of users say 7127 is better, if I could get 1 or 2 more replies just to clarify that I'll be set. Thanks

I ran all of them and if I had to choose between 7201 and 7127 it would be 7201.
But to clarify I was comming from 7137 (the worst for me), so either would be a good choice.

Maybe I'm ignorant here, but what are the differences in the builds from RC 7100 and higher?

To be quite honest not a lot really.
Don't count my vote because I've already cast it.
I can remember RC 7100 being noticeably better than 7057.
I can remember a quite noticeable improvement from 7100 to 7127.
But I couldn't really say why they were better. People say "snappier" but it really is a miniscule difference.
As mentioned 7137 caused me problems, 7201 was ok (just ok) and so is 7229.
Subjectively I had my best experience with 7127.
You need more people to vote and this is not helping but 7100 is a sure thing, it's official and will get any updates that there may be. The leaked builds will get security updates only.

Cheers, john:)

I went from RC 7100 to 7229 as its part of the rtm branch not SP1 branch and as such is closer to RTM. Works great for me. I'll also be sticking with this one until RTM since it will be out in less than a month.

I installed it wrongly by attempting to do my first upgrade and then, I think I took the disk out of the drive too soon.
This resulted in a botched install with no aero etc. V. weird.
I panicked and did a clean re-install of 7127.
Consequently I should come clean and admit that I've not really tried 7137.

I do reckon though that if you told me I was using my favourite build I'd believe you. There that close, J:)

I w2ouldn't waste my time with 7137. 7201 seems stabile and RTM is coming out in 5 days. So if I were you I would wait the 5 days and install RTM on 6/19

Hope that helps somewhat thanks for filling in your system sprcs

@zigzag3143: Really, 5 days?

I just want to let everyone know that I did a full wipe (Used wipedrive and cleaned by disk then installed windows) of my system and installed 7201. I can honestly say in the 12 hours I've had it running, 7077 was noticeably faster. 7201 is slow on loading times I find. I should have gone with 7127, but if the RTM will be released in 5 days there's no point right? What are your thoughts, downgrade to 7127?
