Solved Add To "Open With..."

Yes, I know how to normally add to the open with menu, but this is a bit different.

I use Photoshop CS5 a lot, and am running Win 7 64 bit Home Premium, but need both versions (32 & 64 bit) in the open with menu, but as both of them are named photoshop.exe, it doesn't seem possible - anyone any ideas?

The reason is that some plugins only work in the 32 bit version, so I need to use it at times - I know I could just open it and browse for the file, but the open with menu is how I normally work, so would like this option if possible.

Could you precise if you're using dialog box in photoshop CS5 or in Windows Explorer.

I'm not using PS CS5, but if it does install a 32bits software on a x64bits based system you should be able to "open with" a usual?

In explorer - right-click an image file and then using the open with dialog. If you try browsing to the 32 bit version it still opens in the 64 bit version as both exe files have the same name, and I'm assuming this is the problem....

What hinders you to simply rename the .EXE files? like CS5-32Bit.exe and CS5-64Bit.exe.
and then have 2 "Open with..." Entries.
That should make it clear what is about to start

Thanks guys - I ended up doing what I should have done in the first place; put both of them in the 'Send To' menu instead of the 'Open With' dialogue....!! Much easier....

I'm curious where have end-up the .exe from the "Send To" menu...was it on desktop or documents?:huh:

Not sure I understand the question to be honest.... if you mean about the exe's working in the send to, but not the open with, the send to is only whatever shortcuts you put in there, so even if they have the same name but are in different locations it still works as the shortcuts point to the location of the exe, whereas open with registers exe names, so it doesn't know the difference between photoshop.exe from the Program files folder (x64) and photoshop.exe from Program Files (x86) folder (32 bit).

Maybe I'm misunderstanding the question though??

Thanks for clearing my request, that was what i wanted to know about.

The two .exe x32 & x64 are in different locations and works as shorcuts in their proper pointed locations.
