Not sure if this is the correct forum to post in...please let me know if this should go someplace else.

All I do is upload pictures to my Yahoo Small Business webhost and then insert them into eBay auction templates for items that I'm selling.

To do this, I've used Frontpage 2002 for the last 4 years on a computer with Vista. One of the nicest things I could do was drag and drop pictures from my webhost using MSIE8 right into Frontpage...saved a lot of time!!!

I just bought a new PC with Windows 7 64bit, re-installed Frontpage, but can no longer drop pix from MSIE8.

I've updated Windows and Frontpage and have them as current as possible as far as I can tell.

I even upgraded to MSIE9...still can't drop pix into Frontpage.

SOOO, I've installed Sharepoint Designer 2007 & Seamonkey and still can't drag and drop from the webhost.

I'm thinking this is not an issue with Frontpage or Sharepoint, but have no idea how to fix this.

Any suggestions???

thnx

I've read this, but Frontpage does everything it used to do with Vista except allow me to drag and drop pictures from my webhost using MSIE9 right into Frontpage.

Besides, it won't allow me to drag and drop pictures from the webhost to Sharepoint Designer 2007 & Seamonkey which should definitely be compatible with Windows 7.

All I ever get is a circle with a line through it!!??

PS: Firefox and Chrome don't work either, but they didn't work before when I used Vista and Frontpage.

I am not altogether familiar with FrontPage, but I wonder if there is a corruption with that installation? Is there a 'repair' tool? Maybe uninstall and re-install?

Sorry to appear to be grasping at 'straws', but regrettably I don't have anything else to offer. Maybe another member will have some ideas.

Thanks, but I've tried all that!

I think it's either a Windows 7 or an MSIE problem since I can no longer drag and drop these pictures using any of the 3 web design programs!

I'm hoping someone can point me in the right direction!!!!

When you run IE does it say "Protection Mode: On" in that status bar?

Boy, I was hopeful this would do the trick, but it's the same.

I can drag the pictures onto my desktop, but not into Frontpage!!??

I figured it out. I have to turn off UAC, then I can open Frontpage without being asked by UAC for permission (which I thought was strange...never happened in Vista) AND I can drag right from my webhost file manager opened in MSIE and drop the pictures right into Frontpage.

QUESTION:

1) I hate leaving UAC off. Is there any other way besides turning it off each time and rebooting?

2) If I have to turn off UAC, is there a way to create a shortcut to turn it off?

thnx

If it is on it can and will prevent drag and drops from working.

I should've been more explicit....turning Protection Mode OFF made no difference.

The only thing that works is turning UAC OFF.

thnx

This could suit your needs:
Turn Off User Account Control (UAC) for a Specific Application

Please note that I have no personal knowledge of this method. However, If you do try it, we would be grateful for your feedback. :)

Program downloads and installs just as instructions state.

You identify a program that should have UAC turned off and it creates a new shortcut on the desktop that is supposed to turn UAC off.

Unfortunately, I think it requires a path to the executable file, but all I can find is an *.lnk file pointing to my Frontpage installation and the new shortcut that gets created doesn't launch the program!!??

I just can't find a frontpage.exe file and I have no idea how to proceed!!!

Any ideas????

Alright. Protection Mode is off and you are not running your applications as admin? Does it work then?
(With UAC on.)

Protection Mode is off. Ive tried it both as admin and "regularly" without specifying I'm the admin and it won't let me drag and drop. (I'm the only user, so I don't know if it makes any difference.)

Turning off UAC is the only thing that makes it function like it used to on my prior Vista PC!!??

Not sure if anything here will help:
FrontPage.exe help

The FrontPage folder in Program Files is an Operating System folder, and has
nothing to do with FrontPage the web editor.

If it has been installed, Frontpg.exe will be in the Program Files\Microsoft
Office folder
, otherwise install from the Office Premium Disc 1.

I figured it out!!!

First I determined that my FrontPage executable file was frontpg.exe and I used "Turn Off User Account Control (UAC) for a Specific Application" to open it.

UAC didn't ask me if I wanted to actually open FrontPage up!

I then opened MSIE9 and tried to drag and drop pictures- DIDN'T WORK!!!

Sooo, I used "Turn Off User Account Control (UAC) for a Specific Application" to open MSIE9.

Magic, I can drag and drop!!!!

Then I close FrontPage and open it the old way from a standard shortcut and I can still drag and drop!!!!

My conclusion: The problem is with the way MSIE (8 or 9) function in Windows 7 vs. the way they worked in Vista. I have to disable UAC for MSIE to allow it to drag and drop....it has nothing to do with FrontPage.

"Turn Off User Account Control (UAC) for a Specific Application" seems to work great and was a snap to install and use to create new shortcuts that bypass UAC!

THANKS FOR ALL YOUR HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
