CPU AMD Phenom x4 Overclock help ?

hey guys i currently have a AMD phenom x4 currently clocked at 3.2ghz i want to overclock it to a 3.4ghz can anyone help me do this ? i no how to do the bios by manual n stuff but when it comes to the multiplyer or bla bla bla i get confused haha can anyone help me overclock this bi** and i also have to do a voltage tweak if this is right?

I'm a firm believer in less is more. I can push my CPU to well past 4.3 but in the end how bad is a stable and cool 4.0. Unless I want to toast a whole lot of effort and money I'm staying put and happy.

as well as the excellent advice given above can you post back as to what exactly is confusing you re' multipliers ect..
As your chip is unlocked I'm pretty sure that in your case you would need to raise the multiplier by 1 (from 16 to 17 as 17x200= 3.4GHz)
As this is only a relatively small increase you may not have to raise the voltage. The only way to check would be running something like prime95 to see if the overclock was stable or not.

As the advice above states though, read everything you can on the subject and take things slowly.

a 955 should be able to take 3.6ghz stable, just run Prime95 to make sure. My 965 before I upgraded to a 1090 could take a 18.5x multiplier (3.7ghz) before it wouldn't boot, but 18x was the highest truly stable multiplier. Your mileage may vary of course, since no 2 CPUs are ever the same, some have sub-par silicon and some have excellent.

Of course there's 3 measures of success for overclocking

1. It boots to Windows without a BSOD. It's rather unstable but it can boot. You're probably at the voltage limit if this is all you can do.
2. Prime95 for 30 minutes-1 hour. It's mostly stable, but don't trust it to not crash for no reason when you're doing heavy load tasks.
3. Prime95 overnight. It's stable. Abuse it.
