I am trying the app "Active@ Kill Disk. I hope it works...

Using Active Kill Disk to write zeros to the HD is same thing, so let it complete.

Then clean reinstall from the booted DVD. There are pictures here of each step: Clean Install Windows 7 - Windows 7 Forums

If you're using Upgrade version, leave Product Key box blank during install, then after install do one of the workarounds given here to activate Upgrade version on a cleaned HD: Clean Install with a Upgrade Windows 7 Version - Windows 7 Forums

1 of the biggest issues with shrinking partitions is fragmentation. If you run a defrag and try to shrink again you may find more space available to utilize.

I couldn't mke it work. Would it be another possibility of formating my c: ?? I don't know why, but my laptop doesn't start via dvd even after I set up the BIOS to start from the dvd hard drive. It reads the dvd and jumps right after that to the normal windows start... I think that if I can make it start via dvd I can finally do the partitions I want!! Could this be a problem from the dvd player? Would it work if I would put Windows into a USB pen drive and try to boot the laptop from there??

I'm feeling really desperate...

Are you getting prompt to Press Any Key to Boot from DVD after setting DVD drive as first boot device in BIOS setup?

Try using the one-time BIOS Boot Menu key given on first screen:Asus - F8
HP/Compaq - Esc
Sony - F2
Acer - F12
Gateway - F10
eMachnes - F10
Toshiba - F12
Dell - F12
IBM/Lenovo - the blue Thinkvantage button

Tap the key given for your make at bootup, choose DVD drive to boot, Press Any Key when prompted. Then wipe the HD using Steps given here: SSD - HDD Optimize for Windows Reinstallation - Windows 7 Forums.URL

When finished, close Command Box, click Install Now, Custom Install, use Drive Options to partition as you wish, then format before install. Clean Install Windows 7 - Windows 7 Forums.URL

If you cannot get the DVD to boot, then the ISO may be corrupt or be a bad burn. Try burning another at 4x speed with Verify using ImgBurn. Confirm the ISO is intact and bootable by looking for the word Bootable in text at left when it is loaded in ImgBurn.

If you have a DVD confirmed to boot and install in another machine, then your BIOS may indeed not be booting. To workaround this, use free Partition Wizard bootable CD which will autostart. Wipe the HD from Disk Tab with one set of zeroes. Then the Win7 DVD will autostart, too.

Now here is something that I didn't know... It might be my problem, because yes, I am doing all the stuff you said. I will check it imediatly and later I will tell the result. Just in case that the dvd is not bootable in the next burn, can it mean that the ISO is just a bad one? And then I need to get another one? Or can I fix it?

Ok everyone, I already found out what my problem is. Or at least I think I know... Accordnig to some research that I did, in my win7 ISO file there should be "bootmgr" and a "bootmgr.efi" file. I only have the "bootmgr". Can I create or download from somewhere a "bootmgr.efi"?? COuld this be the reason why the laptop is noot booting from the dvd although I have the BIOS seted to start like that?

Ok, so, I tried to use some tricks to try to make a bootable dvd but it didn't work. At least now I have an error message whe I power on the laptop. It says: "Cannot boot from the CD: Code 5"

Anybody knows what it is?

Funny that you said that because right after I posted my last message here I searched on google about it and I found exactly the same post. I'm burning the dvd as we speak. Fingers crossed....

Where did you get Win7? You need to download an intact verified ISO then burn to DVD using Imgburn at 4x speed.

Ok, problem solved, the I manage finally to create a bootable cd with imgburn. According to what it was saying here, the dvd is too recent for my motherboard. Problem solved, I can now boot from the dvd. The roblem is, I still need to format my C:. I want all the dat acompletely erased from there! And what hapened when I pressed the button "format" on the instalation menu? Not much... It took nearly 2 seconds to format the hard drive, in another words, it didn't really formated the C, it did something else, some typical Microsoft neet clean... So, I created another partion (this time I wal allowed to create one qith 50Gb), and installed windows over there in the hope that I could then, later on format my C: and later install there a completely clean windows... But I cant! The windows running on the second partition doesn't let me format C: !!!!


Suggestions to format C: needed over here... Thanks in advance to everyone\anyone....

When I go to DISKPART and select the hard drive and then write "clean all" as it says in the tutorial, here's what hapends:

"Virtual disk service error:
Clean is not allowed on the disk containing the curent boot, system, page file, crashdump or hibernation volume."

Is it anything that I'm doing wrong?

Yes you have to boot to diskpart it won't run on an active Windows install.

The information was in post #7 by BareFootKid from a day ago. You would already be reinstalled had you not ignored the steps which had been carefully laid out for you.

You need to run Diskpart from the DVD Command Line or Repair CD, as described here.
