Laptop Being slow and says hard disk problem?

Hi im terry wiggers,

I must have re-done my laptop 20 times now, it keeps not responding when it turns on, Saying a hard disk problem, and freezing up?,
Any ideas why its doing this?, Here's my specs:
Advent Eclipse E300 Red
Windows 7 home premium
2GB DDR3 RAM
250GB Hard Drive
Wirless is 802.11b/g/n
13.3" Widescreen
Integrated intel Mobile 4 Series

please define redo. restart? reinstall windows? recreate backup? restore os from oem partition/media? any other things?

i recommend running HDD check tools provided by HDD manufcturer. if pc can not boot you need to boot from other bootable media for example CD/dvd.. oh i think i dont need to say it but if you have any importand data please backup.

If error is saying disk problems there is chance your hdd is going to die.

The first thing I would do is run chkdsk (needs a reboot)

Once you are able to get into Windows again, please do the following:

1. Downlaod, install and run CrystalDiskInfo which will give us a health report on your disk. Post an image of the screen when it has run, and we can advise you further.

2. Open an elevated command prompt (cmd window) and type chkdsk /f and hit enter.
You will be prompted whether you wish to schedule a disk check at next startup - select YES and then reboot the machine. Tell us the results of the chkdsk once it has completed.

If it's telling you there's a hard disk problem, then here's a clue...LOL. You have a hard disk problem. Get a new hard drive or you're wasting your time.

Be careful installing Crystal...it tries to install SweetIM, which is known spyware.

I agree. The laptop is telling you exactly what is wrong, likely from the S.M.A.R.T. feature of the drive. The very first thing you should do is back up your data. Then you can worry about running diags on the drive.
