when i go to save my finished file using an mp3 mixing program the file saves and has the same mp3 logo on it BUT it has a little picture of a lock on the bottom left of the file icon.

the problem is i will save my work to say, c drive, and then when i go to find it, it wont be there. but when i use the mp3 mixing program to open it i can see it!?

this is really annoying because i spend alot of time mixing music and i cant find my work anywhere apart from when i use the program. even though i have exported it to mp3/wav/whatever

i hope someone uinderstands what im talking about. im usualy pretty good with computers i dont know what is wrong with it. im using windows 7!?

please help me, thank you:cry:

Hi there...

Have you tried looking in the hidden folders in your Documents? (C:\users\Harness84\AppData) You'll have to check the "show hidden files and folders" and "show protected OS files" in the view menu of folder options.

The picture of the lock has to do with sharing options i.e. Homegroup.

As for not being able to see your file trough explorer, have you tried saving the file in a different location other than the c drive?

You can try the following, open your mixing software and look for the mp3, according to you, it should see it, but before opening it, right click and copy, then paste it to your desktop. Post back some results.

Yea, if you right click on the file with the lock and hover over sharing, it will give you the options for who to share with and what access read/ write.

Have you tried starting the program as an admin? Right Click > run as administrator. Check if you can save to the desktop.

The paths are different to your documents in Windows 7 and trying to navigate to them the same way as XP will lead you to the locked (symlink'ed to the actual location) folders. Instead of \Documents and Settings\Username, your personal folders are in \Users\Username.
