ive been using cyberlink powerdvd 10 for quite a while and its been great, now it says the blu ray disc isnt supported, even though ive played it on here before. ive tried other players and they say the same thing. i thought this was weird since its always been fine. so ive downloaded k lite codec pack and shark007 pack and nothing seems to be working. dvds play fine but my blurays wont

Is there an error code associated with the problem? If so, write down exactly what it says. :)

Thanks for the reply profdlp, but no there isn't. With Cyberlink PowerDVD 10 it just says "There is a disc with an unsupported format in drive D:" and with Media Player Classic Home Cinema it says "Cannot render the file." Basically with other players it just says the same thing different ways. I haven't done anything different with my computer, just yesterday when I put in Planet Earth on blu-ray it won't play neither will other movies I have on blu-ray. I figured for some reason maybe out of nowhere I just don't have the correct codec anymore or something but I'm not sure what else I would need.

Have a look at this tool:

Disable/enable codec drivers and DirectShow filters installed on your system

I would sort the list by Installed/Modified and look for something either Installed, Disabled, or Modified right at the time your troubles started. You can also check under Display Name to see if any of the CyberLink filters have a different date from the rest.

With codecs it's easy to keep piling on new packages and hope you get lucky, but sometimes that just makes things worse.

I tried going about disabling all the codecs around the time of when this problem occurred since they were all enabled and still haven't gotten it. Should I reinstall the driver or something? I'm getting desperate. I haven't found a download link for it though, the drive is a Lite-On IHOS 104 4X Blu-Ray Player

Keep in mind that the people who have problems are far more likely to write a review than are all the happy folks whose purchase is working fine. The former are looking for a place to vent and the latter are too busy watching movies. ;)

Here are a few ideas:

1) Check device manager for problems

2) Uninstall the drive, reboot, then let windows find it again

3) Reinstall your CyberLink stuff, along with any updates available\

4) What size is your Power Supply? If it was barely adequate to begin with it might be losing some of its oomph and is no longer up to snuff

5) With all your codecs enabled, have you tried watching a Blu Ray disc with Windows Media Center?

:P Well I checked if it was up to date and I have reinstalled and rebooted and still no luck. And it's a 600W power supply which has been fine. And yes I've tried watching on WMC but to no avail as well, it just says that there isn't a disc in the drive.

Well, if it were mine the next step would be to drop the drive in another computer and see what it managed to do there. If it was still not working I would probably figure that the laser had lased its last byte.
