I recently, and perhaps foolishly, disabled and/or removed my on-board microphone (next to the webcam).

It no longer shows up under devices.

What ways can I go about in order to bring it back?

Any ideas/help is appreciated!

If this was something recent, System Restore MAY get it back. Restore to a date prior to doing whatever you did.
System Restore can be accessed from Start/Programs/Accessories/System Tools.

Is the driver installed? Check your device manager.. (right-click computer > manage > devicemanager) Look for any disabled or problem devices..

See attachment. That's all I got under sound devices.

The driver must have been removed, yes... I may try to locate it from the support downloads from the factory who made the computer.

Restoring is a bit too much for this little problem, but, if that will be the only way then so be it!

Thanks for the help so far.

System Restore is not a complete reinstall. It's just a system "fall back" to an earlier date. System Restore does not delete any user data or e-mails. However, any programs or updates installed after the restore date will have to be installed again (or if anything was uninstalled it will have to be uninstalled again).

Right click on the Recording Tab to Show Disabled Devices.
Highlight Microphone, select Properties to enable the device.

If the Microphone has a red icon by it, unplug it.
If you have installed the software from Realtek, VIA, etc, then plugging in the device should cause a
detection pop-up to appear. Click OK to confirm the device. It should be ready to use.
