My RC of Windows 7 Ultimate Complete Backup failed with error 80780048. And Binging (not Googling) revealed this same error occurred in Vista during 2008 as mentioned in other forums on the web. It failed after several hours of backing up to my 500GB USB drive. To start I had 300GB free and only required 168GB for backup.

A couple of years ago, I used Windows Vista Ultimate to create an image backup. Then several months later I had a problem and had to do a restore, That failed. So from then on I used Norton Ghost 12.0. Well I gave Windows 7 Ultimate backup a try and this problem occurred.

Anyone else have a problem with this? Any fixes?

First Hi and welcome to SF.

No solution for win backup here, but I had the same problem and I had a Ghost BU which also failed. Ghost failed because I had upgraded from ghost 12 to 14 and not made a new ghost 14 recovery disk. Im checking wwith Symantec abt that There has to be a better way. If you do get a solution PM me to let me know and I will Pm you if I find something

Keep asking questions someone here will have the answer

Paragon Works well and I was lucky enough to get it on a free promo but IMO it's well worth the money.

Paragon is good so is Acronis

I guess anything is good as long as you test it and USE it

NAS w mirrored drives

For backup and other purposes, today on Father's Day, my son bought me a NAS: D-Link DNS-323 with two WD 1.5 TB drives to plug into my home router's gigabit switch. He wants me to mirror the drives so I won't have to worry about backups again. However this solution did cost about $350. It does other things. What do you guys think about this backup solution? I am not advertising, I am retired!

-------

After a couple of weeks, I would like to report that the DNS-323 is working OK with Windows 7 RC and iMac. It streams iTunes to all computers fine. I will test streaming of AV to Windows 7 soon.
