Win 7 -Video signal lost at bootup or shortly after

Hi,

When booting up into Windows 7 (64 bit) my monitor stops showing video either right after the initial start up screens or if it survives that it may last a few minutes before. When it does it says signal lost and going into sleep mode and I can't get it to wake up from that.

I've tried hooking up to my tv and still the same problem happens so I'm sure it's not the monitor...it will randomly boot up - sometimes it won't let me get into windows, sometimes not. But even if it does, it doesn't last long.

This started only recently so I wonder if maybe there was an update that caused this.

Any help would be appreciated.

Have you tried booting into safe mode? Does the problem happen still?

Yeah I've tried Safe Mode a couple times, it's gotten me into Windows, but again, loses signal after a while as well.

One more thing I forgot to mention - it's not the cable either, as when using my TV I'm using HDMI rather than the standard cable I use when my monitor is hooked up.

Do you have an on board card you can use?

video card built in to the motherboard.

Try booting into safe mode and uninstalling the drivers and rebooting into normal mode
