Startup time from 75 seconds to 165 seconds. What is wrong?

Soluto Startup

Soluto's start up times are longer than what you actually experience as you can controll your windows and it is visibly 'booted' much before the 1 minute and 43 seconds that it shows.
Also, looking at my own services, I noticed that alot of the delay I had was resulting from things that use internet and network services, like messengers, steam, groove ect. If you delay these it starts way faster because, imo, these all have to wait untill the network and internet are ready or they just sit there doing nothing untill it is. And I am pretty sure that in order to 'speed up boot times' as MS advertised for windows 7 the services that do this are commited after windows apears to be booted none of those type of services can start untill then so nothing can be gained from these not being delayed. I could be wrong though , it happened once b4.

I would uninstall the Google Toolbar which probably snuck in with another software install. You want the Google toolbar built into the browser for stability, which is not an installed program. Their software also spies on you when and if you're signed into it - so don't for long.

I would also uninstall the Logitech setpoint software which is never necessary (someone will now reply it is needed for their mouse's whiskers to wiggle). Use the Windows driver.

The third item is the J Micron controller for combination SATA/IDE drives. There are reported issues with it as well and although it claims it must be running to enable both controllers, it's been turned off to successfullyl solve problems.

Groove monitor is Office software which you would know if you need to start with computer.

Next is Creative Audio software which does not need to start with your computer unless you have special settings in Creative control panel which won't hold otherwise.

Java updater is spyware which sees if you have the latest Java. Like Adobe you can wait til Java runs when it will tell you anyway if it needs updating.

IAStor is Intel Storage monitor. It can flag problems so is worth considering. I would like to hear others' opnion on storage startups as I only allow them on laptops if they park the HD reader.

Philips GoGear is spyware for your MP4 player, which wants to monitor your playing habits while pretending to keep you "connected." They're only connecting to their mothership to upload your habits.

Others will differ but I don't allow anything into startup except AV and gadgets/stickies, maybe an Autosizer if the windows won't hold set size. Others are freeloaders on your RAM, CPU, Startup Time and can spy on you to collect marketing data, or worse.

Google the name or file extension to research these further. Know your hitchhikers.

Thanks for the info, I tried SIW2's suggestion and unchecked everything on the startup list, it brought the boot time down to 60 seconds flat, But I find it interesting that my older PC boots Win 7 faster still (46 seconds) and its using a much slower 160GB IDE HD for booting and I havent disabled any of its startup items (AMD X2 4800+ dual core w/ 2GB ram).

I uninstalled Logitech setpoint, Google toolbar & Gogear software and just have the Intel storage monitor checked in msconfig startup, on reboot I'm showing 63 second start up time.

I dont reboot this PC very often so guess its not a huge deal. (it has a sleep timer set) Boot time definitely improved since I first started reading this thread at least.

I went through the How to speed up boot process guide on that forum and now Im at a pretty consistent 52 - 53 second start up time, It's getting better slowly but surely lol.
