In games my Cpu goes nuts

First let me thank you all SO much for giving the time to read my problem.

I just bought this new laptop E728, its kinda a piece of shit but for the money i guess that is that.
I bin checking the net thin for help and everywhere i look the best advice is upgrade to Xp, but then i wonder. I actually can run Half Life 1 on this machine without the cpu even raises above 5, but when i want to play Bg 1,2, throne of bhaal, Gta 2, Deus ex 2, Sims 3 (oka maybe that one made sence) Hitman bloodmoney, battlefield 2 demo, Newerwinter nights 2, or morrowind though morrowind runs alittle bettter, all these games run like crap.

So i thought, if bloodmoney runs as bad as diablo 1 ( yea i also tryed that) then it have NUTHING to do with the game itself. Why half life 1 works so good is beyond me.
Nontheless i really wanted a program to underclock my pc cause clearly this machine thinks it have to put all its power into all the games i tryed except half life 1.

Face it an emachine Laptop with 2GB RAM and on board graphics is not a gaming Rig
It might be sufficient to browse the web or even to write some papers, do email etc.

I don't think there is much you could do (perhaps more RAM but the graphics chip is on board so you're stuck with that)

As for underclocking check here
Go to Control Panel > Power Options > Change Plan Settings > Change advance power settings and alter the Min/Max-settings for Processor Power Management

+ 1 on laptops vs gaming rigs.

Perhaps half life was coded and programmed to perfection and the others not so much... some games are just "Resource Hoggers", others not so much and others are just pure crap.

You may be able to play some of the other Source Games at lower settings/resolutions.

HL2, Portal etc.

Source Engine runs pretty decent on most anything, granted it may not be able to run at high settings.

I just tryed counter strike, but without luck. It looks like nomatter what i do the cpu goes nuts... Not that programs makes it explode, im just saying that at least 30 is used in cpu for extracting a game, and yesterday it used as much as 50 in cpu..

A SSD...however a decent size one will probably cost more than the laptop....I doubt that the laptop will be overclockable at any rate....The biggest problem is the internal graphics, Intel 4500...I can guarantee that is not upgradeable....

All you can really do is lighten the load (Shutdown all unnecessary background processes)
For example go into Start/msconfig and uncheck on the startup-tab everything that isn't Ant-Malware or otherwise absolutely necessary.
If you can't add more RAM perhaps starting demanding games with a batch while shutting donw wxplorer for the time being

Something like

hl2.exe
explorer.exe

(might need some fine tuning...it's just a concept.. I haven't tried it out yet.
Save it as hl2.cmd, move it in your Half Life directory and start if from there. That should give you some 30, 40 MB more not much, I know

At almost the bottom see the GMA X4500....you don't even have that...go down about two notches.....The CPU is trying to make up the difference...but if CPU was any good at 3d, Nivida/ATI would not exist
