What Games Are You Playing?

Finished the Justine DLC for Amnesia. It's only about 25-30 minutes long, but still pretty decent. There's a certain part in it that I think is scarier than anything from Amnesia itself, lol. Also there's no respawns or saving in it. If you die, then you have to start again.

The aim of it is to try and save all of the 3 prisoners in the game.

Just finished Medal of Honor for the PS3. Pretty good game, I liked the story line even though it was shorter than the COD story lines. A few thoughts about it was that at some points in the game it seemed somewhat linear. Other than that I like the game overall and it cam with a BF3 beta invitation.

I kinda liike this Not very far into yet, as Ive been playing with the settings.

I started off with everything on High. (Except DoF, never liked the effect)

At the start in the apartment, it felt a tad laggy, even though the FPS was showing 45-60 .. bouncing around. But not too bad.

As I started to progress, in some cutscenes it would drop to about 30 .. and in some areas, it would go from a steady 60FPS, down to 28-30 for a short time, causing a stutter, then back up.

Not sure whats up with it.


Ive tried w/lowering shadows as you suggested and that did help.

ATM, Im trying a slightly different approach to see how it works out.
I have Shadows back on High, and Particle effects at Med.
So far, so good, and seems to work just as well.

Dips to 45 at times, but for the most part seems rather smooth.

Still need to move further into the game to confirm however. It may start getting laggy in other areas.


Oh, and Im rather fond of my Xbox 360 controller for games like this.
So for those that are the same way, Im happy to report the game gets along with it perfectly.
Plug it in, start the game, and it just works. No setting anything up.

Well all I did was drop the shadows to medium and the lag is all but gone, there's still a little here and there but I can live with it.

I'm sure the game can use a patch or two to bring performance up a bit seeing that both card companies are suffering lag thus.

Never played with a controller so I can't comment, but I'm sure other would find that info useful.

That's it for now, just taking a break from the game.

Played stalker soc and priboi story mod all yesterday. Maxed out looks and runs great- it is an awesome total conversion mod.

Hydrophobia Prophecy bug - act 3

Just picked up Hydrophobia. Looks quite interesting.

OK, I’m going to post this spoiler on Act 3 part 4/4 of Hydrophobia Prophecy because of a bug I ran into.

The problem lies with the Destroy S.A.R.A . part of the act – well when I destroyed it I got a bright sparkly ball of light in the middle of the room and that’s it

After frustrating myself for about 30 minutes trying to figure out what to do next and having no success or clue I took to the net. Seeing the video I linked to I’m like that’s not the PC version cause that’s not what I got fighting S.A.RA :huh:

Well going back to the mission and playing it again revealed that YouTube clip is in fact the correct way the act is played out, thus the bug I discovered.

Just posting to in case someone runs into this and goes WTF do I do now!!!

BTW I would suggest you watch no more than the first 4-5 minutes of the of the clip as it is major spoilage!

It'll become second nature in no time. A lot of the cross platform games games simply feel more comfortable with a controller.


I'm still on a retro-console kick with my 360 (well, it feels retro by comparison )

Once I finish off Fable II, it's onto Red Dead Redemption. The first 360 game I've bought in over 2 years, since Rockstar declined to release this on the PC.

You will like the 360 controller for some games, I bought one for my PC to play Prototype and a few other games, it takes a few minutes but then your moving threw fine.

Actually since you know about it I would suggest you not look. Just know that if you destroy S.A.R.A and end up with a sparkly ball of light in the middle of the room you've encountered the bug and will have to restart the level

Well I'm done with Hydrophobia. That last level was extremely frustrating but I got thorugh it

Playing some Dirt 3 myself at the moment. Loving it so far and it's just as good as the second one. Actually it's a bit more professional than Dirt 2 due to only getting the silly "Hey dude!" talk when in Gymkhana. The rest of the time it's pretty well laid back voice overs that glide you in to the action, while of course reassuring you along the way.

Paired with a Xbox 360 wired controller and i happen to have access to my 42" LCD HDTV sat at the side of me has a second screen to play on while we wait for the living room to be re-carpeted. It's all good!

Wanting to get Dirt3, but can't really spare the money at the moment. Looks great though. Playing Shift 2 at the moment, and that's just as good with a 360 controller.
