Is KB971033 ( WAT ) included in SP1 ?

I have set the KB971033 as hidden in windows updates . If the SP1 includes the KB971033 ( WAT ) what might happen installing the SP1 ? Will the KB971033 remain as hidden or won't ? Did someone face the same issue ? Thanks in advance .

Here is info in the hidden update. It is included in SP1 and therefore will not be listed as a separate update after that although the one you hid may still appear hidden.

Someone send the list of hotfixes and security updates in SP1 ( from Microsoft ) which doesn't include the KB971033 . This list could be found by googling . Why doesn't the KB971033 appear ? Doesn't appear because of the reason that is a WAT ? Anyway , does the option to be hidden remain ?

I installed Windows 7x64 Home Premium with integrated SP1, KB971033 shows up as a separate update in my update history list. Why are you hiding it? I would imagine at some point Microsoft will block you from further updates if you don't install it.

For reasons best known to MS, WAT is still optional. If you hide it, MS goodies that require validation will not install, other than that windows will run fine. But only pirates need to hide it...

At the moment, I believe that it is still optional. Sooner or later, if MS choose to continue with WAT, it will probably become a compulsory install. It might, or might not, be listed as an update (and I can fully understand if MS choose to make it invisible), but we need to remember that if you have nothing to hide then you have nothing to fear from it as its soul purpose is to protect MS's intellectual rights in ensuring that the terms of its EULA are adhered to. This means no circumventing of activation and no using a product key on more simultaneous installations than is permitted for it.

KB971033 is not included in SP1 according the list of Hotfixes and Security Updates which can be found here - Download details: Documentation for Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2 Service Pack 1 (KB976932)

Under File Name click the download link next to Updates in Win7 and WS08R2 SP1.xls. Its an Excel spreadsheet so....

Anyways KB971033 is not included so it won't be installed with SP1.

MS goodies that require activation will install just fine, without the WAT update.

I have a friend who works for M$ on the Office Development Team. They really do not care about piracy in the private sectors. They do enough to stop "casual piracy" to save face for their investors and to make it look like they care in general, but that's about it.

There bread and butter (the real money) comes from there corporate customers, government, schools (public/collages) etc who will not risk pirating because the BSA and organizations who do software audits etc on the behalf of companies like Micro$oft.

I do have a legal, paid for Windows 7 license and I have WAT svcs disabled. My reasoning is because I had to reinstall in the past and my key was not accepted and I got the dreaded "This copy of Windows is not valid". This was after Windows had been running activated for several weeks just fine. I tried to go through the MS hoops to get a phone number to call but the info would not display.
During this time I also had to replace my graphics card, while still not activated. Strange, I waited a few days, tried my key again and this time it was fine. All activated and proper now.
Since then I have again replaced the graphics card and Windows did not complain.
I don't really think disabling the WAT or not updating it will prevent an illegal copy from being detected anyway.

After installing SP1 seems clearly that KB971033 is not included in the list since it is not installed with SP1.
