Windows update crashes my computer

I have recently had a virus which did several things to my computer...

It continuously opened spam websites whenever I googled something, or even opened random tabs for no reason.
I also had the boot loop error where windows did not start properly
It also had a boot critical file error c:\\ci.dll corrupted.

In my frustration I did a dell factory reset, this let me use windows again and create a new login, but the problems persisted.
I fixed the boot critical file error with the http://www.sevenforums.com/crashes-debugging/158973-boot-critical-file-4.html advice, and it also stopped the spam sites when I use the web.

Computer appears to be running fine now. However, when the computer tries to run windows update it does the download part ok but when it restarts and tries to "configure window" it crashes and then has a boot error, which sometime it resolves and sometimes it doesn’t. But in the end I can always start windows again.

When I am logged on I now have user interface stopped working come up, and the computer proceeds to send info to windows, as of 10 minutes ago he also shows the same for windows update, and sends info to windows. Every time I run "fix problems with windows update" it fixes something but this doesn’t appear to help.

Any help or suggestions on how to get windows up to date after my factory restore. Thanks.

Hello!

Do they work now? It took me ages to get it to work, and after editing it about 12 times within the first 5 minutes, I did get it to work, and it works for me now.

Does it work for you now, or not?

Thanks a lot, and an excellent catch!

Richard

Hi Richard-

Yes, your link now goes directly to the MGADiag.exe download. :)

Jacee's link still shows Address Not Valid. :(

Hi Jacee,
Thanks for your help, the diagnostic tool wouldn't let me copy so I uploaded screen shots in a word file, hope this is all the information you need.
Thanks again!!!!
