Hi All

I just can't seem to be satisfied with ANY later build than 7137.

7260-X64 regresses -- My LAN card again doesn't work (fixed build 7137).

Backup (Acronis True Image Workstation) doesn't work anymore.
Office Outlook 2007 seems to get random problems when either attaching flles in email or retriving attachments.

DVD playing only works with VLC (media center appears broken).

PC-TV Terrestial digital TV cards (Hauppage / Pinnacle) don't work. (Build 7260).

If these builds are nearing RTM I hope that the compatability options will be fixed.

7137 for me is 100% stable and EVERYTHING I need is working.
Cheers

This is why I've stayed with 7201 x64. These later builds seemed fishy to me and with all the debug code, it's to be expected that there would be problems. 7201 FTW until RTM.

7232 has made me the happiest ...

Has there been any confirmation of debug code presence and absence in any specific build? Not that it means anything, but Everest Ultimate reports no debug in 7232 x64.

Im on 7137 as well , I did have 7260 but due to user error when formatting a drive i deleted the wrong ISO lol. 7137 runs smooth and has no bugs that are noticable. :D

The general feeling is that 7260 x64 is quite poo :p

As it's a modified Windows 7 server x64 that's been altered to a client there have been reports of loss of performance and functionality. 7323 x64, although a modified VHD seems to be the best 64 bit version. Whereas 7260 Modified VHD seems to be the best x86 build.

All comes down to system HW configurations...

You know, looking from the outside in at the builds & what people say about them I am now 100% Positive all of this has to do with system specific HW!
On one system so & so build is Flawless while on the next its full of problems!

So with that said...for me the ONLY program that doesn't work on build 7260 that "I" use all the time is Acronis Workstation which did work perfectly in 7137 BUT...
I just replaced it with Acronis HOME 12 that works fine & also makes perfect backups too. As a matter of a fact its as fast if not faster than Workstation!
So I'm good with that... :)

There was other things that didn't work in the OS namely features that I wanted in build 7137.

Now in build 7260 ALL of Windows features are working again & doing this Flawlessly on "MY" system & HW configuration, so this is the build for me but not might be for someone else's system. ;)

Bottom line is whatever build works best on your systems HW configuration is the best build to use for you. :geek:

Now on the Final release of Windows 7 they will have it the most compatible it can be with everything just like the RC but much, much better. So I'm not worried in the least as to whether or not the final RTM version is going to work well on my system as I know it will.
If a beta build works this good on my system, then the final will work fantastic! :p

I think the problem is more likely the fact that these re not "official" ISO's. They're sort of hacked to install using older files in some cases, so there may be issues because of this.

I'd stick with whatever the latest official ISO version is. For me, 7201 x64 has been flawless.

As for app compatibility, that may just be real compatibility issues that will exist in the final version, and will require a patch from the app vendors. In the runup to RTM, Microsoft often fine tunes certain things that can cause apps that worked earlier to stop working (because of a problem in the app, doing something they're not supposed to, but having it work anyways).

There is no 7260 64 bit. You got a crappy client conversion of server. Which sucks for a client, as you can tell many programs/drivers will not work.

Now you have everyone comparing a server program not meant for what your using it for. To windows 7.
