I have a feeling I might be asking for too much here. I have win7 64bit, and it looks like amd only has xp 32 bit drivers. I don't want to watch videos or play games on this monitor, just using it for desktop work.

Is there any chance I can use this card to run the 3rd monitor or do i need to get a different card?

The other two monitors are plugged into a nvidia 9600gt.

thanks

If I understand what your asking here the answer is no. You can't have two video cards on the same PC. Its impossible. If you just wanted the AMD then yes you could have one monitor plugged in it depending on how many ports it has. So, you have to choose one graphics card or the other. There are adapters out there though that can have one video source (PC) and can hook it up to multiple monitors with some software supplied. Hope this helps.

umm, i'm pretty sure you CAN have multiple video cards in the same system. Why couldn't you?

multiple video cards

You can have multiple video cards. Take a look at multiple forum members with two (identical) cards running up to 6 screens... no problem.

Please post some more info about your system and your specific question.

running win7 64bit
I want to know if i can use an amd 9250 video card as a secondary card even though the only drivers i could find for it on the amd site are for win2k/xp 32bit. Just need it for desktop - don't need it for gaming or anything like that.

Ok, overlooked the primary card name in the first post. Easier of you fill out system spec's in your configuration. That comes up in the link in any of your posts and is easier to check.

I'm not the top expert on video cards but in my experience it is best to use two identical cards, in your case a second 9600gt and use it's SLi capabilities...

However, there are multiple examples of people using different cards, even three, simultaneously. Some claim to have 'just tried it out and it worked'. I myself would not use an extra card under W7 64B if there are no known drivers for your OS from the manufacterer as in your case..

i dont need a 2nd card of the same type. Not even possible in this case since there's only one pci-e slot.

Like i said in the original post, this card is just going to be used to run a 3rd monitor for desktop stuff, no gaming. So trying to get SLI or crossfire would be overkill in this case. I just want a cheap card i can stick in the PC so i can use a 3rd monitor, since the 9600 only supports 2 monitors.

I'm just going to order another card that i know supports win7, since i'm pretty sure the 9250 isn't going to work.

Thanks
