So sometime randomly during the night, my computer restarted itself due to like finish installing some Windows updates, then I awake to find my computer in the setup recovery screen! This is not the first time this has happened! This EXACT same problem occurred about 2-3 days ago, so what I do is I check to see what the setup repair had found and apparently A file called " D:\ci.dll " is a critical boot file & it's corrupt, and now I don't know what to do!? I don't have ANY restore points, no recovery disc, and have no idea what to do which is why I came here. Should I get the file from the same version of Windows 7 from a different computer I have & replace it using Linux booting off a CD? Or what would be the best solution? Because last time, the same file was corrupt, and I did a system restore, btw, if it helps, I have an Acer, 6Gb of Ram, Windows 7 64Bit, 3.2Ghz AMD processor, AMD Radon 6570.
If you are getting file corruption there is usually a cause, you might need to consider the possibility the drive may need to be replaced in the near future too.

It wouldn't hurt to check it at least.
It could just be something random or a leftover from a improper shutdown.
You should find your way to the website of the people that made the hard drive and download their testing tools just to be sure though.
